Would have obviously preferred a win, but the reports don't sound too bad. Great to see Travis put in another good performance. He could make a huge difference this year. A little disappointed not to hear any feedback on Reid. Does anyone know if Josh played and whether he was in the ruck or down forward.

the skilful Leon Davis continues to evolve as a player capable of finding plenty of the ball in the midfield.

Great to hear! Pity this wasn't three seasons ago.

i cant wait to see leon have a full season in the middle i reckon he will be great....he always finds the ball in heavy traffic in the forward line and he seems to be doing that in the middle

Sounds like a solid hit out, particularly given four of Richmond's best players were named in their best, meaning they were having a fair dinkum crack at it.

a quick question.

how many games (pre season and practice) did Sydney win last year and the year before.
Ditto for the Eagles.

Just curious for a comparison!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I see your point Leggie, but WCE lost to Carlton in the 2005 NAB Cup Grnd Final.

Sydney didn't win to many in that period, but they have won 3 so far this year and 2 against us the other Richmond.

Anyway there is no need for concern at the moment, i think we got the general idea against North that we were going with the kids to see where they are at.

We are obviously playing our senior players on a match fitness basis only.

Lets wait for the real stuff B4 we judge. And i mean that in a positive and negative way.
There is a real unknown factor about us and that could be a bad thing, However it could be a good thing.

The more i look at our list the better i feel.

P.S. If you think what i just said is crap, forgive me i've had a few.

play the kids there the future of any team play all your senior players & thats all youve got. then you have to look at brisbane they have made the NAB gf with a very young side that are fit & have trained very hard ok they may faid later in the year but remember they have alot of stars to come back & the self belief in the younger group has to be better than getting beaten . i know that doesnt mean anything in the big time but a group of young players that win a GF of any sort shows commitment to each other as a team. play our young players but WIN practise nab matchs put a side on the park that will win.

The question still remains - who is going to kick our goals this year?

How did Chopper (Reid) go? Did he show anything to confirm that he is going to be our forward saviour?

No actually Ben was.
Now for the goss i was in the rooms before the game and at half time
(Mick invited me in after signing last weeks photo dead set he is a nice bloke)
He told Ben he had a great first quarter and had there only tagger moved onto him.
He was up dissappointed with Pebbles for being one and 0 at half time.
We did not have a forward line when Josh was there they always dropped a second player back and we were kicking high into the forward line.
They ran the ball in, their 41 got a lot of ball around the 50.
There was breeze down the Mildura end but we did not capitalise enough in the last quarter. And yes Sparky had a chance to bring us within one point But he kicked a helicopter right across the face and on the full. Some supporter said " They call themselves AFL footballers" oh well i suppose everyone has a shocker once in a while.

Thanks for the info Redmick - and a nice photo too (by the way Bucks doesn't look too concerned at our pre-season form). Overall it doesn't sound too bad. I reckon some of our senior players like Pebbles tend to pace themselves during the preseason, focussing more on getting through the games unscathed and building up their fitness in time for the real thing, rather than busting their gut to win a useless game. If that's a piss poor rationalisation then so be it.

By the way Redmick, how did Bryan and Richards go in the ruck, as this more than anything else has been our archilles heel for too many years.

Guy seem to spend more time in the ruck Chris was working more around the half back area.
I did not really notice them too much but that what i recall
I remebering Mick say at half time we had 27 entries with 13 scores into the forward fifty with a coversion rate of less than 50% and they had 20 with 10 scores 50% and it would be ordinary to get beat by a 50% conversion rate.Boy did they talk percentatges i suppose when you have so many peolpe taking stats you can look at all that

Great stuff, redmick - I'm also keen to hear how Richards went. And Swan, who has appeared to make a slow start to the season?
