He's tried that. It still goes to the oppo. There's no easy answer to the problem.Medieval wrote:Grundy needs a decent ruck coach. His tap is terrible. I’d rather he punch it out of the ruck.

I’ve been saying that since half way through the year.masoncox wrote:Currently Grundy is a dud.Medieval wrote:Grundy needs a decent ruck coach. His tap is terrible. I’d rather he punch it out of the ruck.
He might be injured.
But if he plays he gets judged on that performance.
And on that that performance tonight and the last few weeks.
He is pathetic... full stop.
The only stat that matters is whether you win or lose.

Bit rich sinking the knives into the club after we had one of our most inspiring wins only a week earlier. We were flat tonight and Geelong got the jump over us. The game was over at quarter time. Listening to the post match comments from Jonathan Brown and he’s saying that as a Brisbane player, he found it the most challenging returning to Brisbane a week after a big win in Perth. People so quick to condemn. We should savior the great win we had last week and move onto to what we need to do to improve ourselves next year. Considering the upheaval of the year with Coronavirus and all the travel we had and the players who were injured and didn’t play, like Howe and Sidebottom being stuck in Melbourne, the year was a positive. Daicos came on. We introduced Ruscoe. Quaynor won a rising star award. The negatives were the Coronavirus breaches, charges against De Goey, absence of Beams and the demise of some of the older players in Reid, Varcoe and Dunn who are no longer up to it. We’ll be a much better club next year when we blood new players in Randall and Bianco and give more games to Keane and Ruscoe.

I've been through this too many times. Another finals loss. It's gutwrenching. And now we get to face our friends that go for other sides and the media and ourselves.
Thought 2020 could have been our year when the season was put on hold and we were going to have an October GF.
Too many things just went wrong during the year. We should have held on to beat Richmond, we should have held on to beat GWS, we should have held on to beat Essendon.
And once we were thumped by West Coast, we lost to much momentum and belief. From that point we lost to Freo (another game we should have won), barley beat the Swans, scrapped by the Crows, thumped by Dees. Then we beat North and Carlton where we found something but went down fighting to Lions and Port.
The final against WCE was one of the best wins I've seen in my life supporting this club. But a week is a long time in footy. I almost expected a loss tonight, but not like this.

If that is true, then we are simply inferior. Richmond won a flag after losing Rance. Jdg wasn't the only one who didn't turn up to play.piedys wrote:But hey - our season was rooted the moment Howe went down.
Obviously, he alone couldn't have repelled the avalanche of inside D50s conceded tonight.
If DeGoey doesn't turn up to play, neither does many others.
It was virtually the entire team.
I don't believe it was physical fatigue. Geebung played last week in a gruelling final. and even if it was fatigue, that would just be an indictment of all our planning and reconditionong processes.
However you look at it, tonight was a disaster. Ask not for whom the bell tolls. It tolls for thee

Well said Jezza.Jezza wrote:Very disappointing night. A lot of introspection needed for the coming days and weeks.
For now, I just want to thank the whole club for giving us something to look forward to each week in what's been a tough year for everyone. Here's to hopefully a better year next year and a return to some sort of normality.
Emotions are running high, so I'll refrain from posting anything else without sleeping on it first.
MM said this in the game thread and it's what made the most sense to me about tonight:
It's all between the ears. Beating the Eagles I think released a huge pressure valve, exorcised a demon or two and gave the group a sense of closure/payback. That was our GF
