Come on people show some respect to ......
PMSL .... Couldn't keep a straight face for much longer.
Poor old Saints though. Twice they've been done over recruiting Essendon players by handing over first round picks.

Can they? I know they were granted that leeway in the Fosters Cup last year, but allowing such a thing for the regular season would be unprecedented in the age of the draft. Have you read anything suggesting that the AFL might permit this?

The AFL has already given the Essendopers permission to recruit players from the VFL competition. I do not know to what extent and if it means they can approach players contracted to other VFL/AFL teams.

I'm not surprised they were found guilty. 1 yr ban ? It could have been 2yrs so they should think themselves very lucky.
There are only 12 players currently on the dopers list and 5 or 6 others at other clubs.
Dopers and the AFL have been working on a plan for ages (I think Gill the dill realised ages ago they were shot ducks)
They can get players from state level leagues from all states and any player who isn't contracted I'm guessing. My question is how do they pay them ? Don't all clubs have to spend 95% of the cap each year so that would leave at best 5% of the cap to pay 12 players. So these 12 would be entitled to the league minimum right ? So do the maths folks they are over the cap by some distance.
Do the AFL just let this happen or ignore it or what ?
Do the AFL pay the new players and have them contracted to them ?
And this mess is just going to get worse as well expect law suits galore from the players against Dank, Hird, the club and anyone else they can line up
This I'm guessing will be the end of Watson he said a while ago if he was ever found guilty he would walk away from th game.
This mess should have been over 3yrs ago The dim sim man should have just bitten th bullet and ousted them immediately he is as much to blame as Hird and the club trying to hide behind lies and misinformation.
I do feel for the players some what really

Delays not attributable to the players. Details in decision. Some delays players fault, others not.

Correct. And none of the extras are at Collingwood. Kudos to Buckley
et al for not going down that road.

My understanding is that, because they've been found guilty of doping, the banned players cannot be paid while they're suspended. That should free up plenty of space in Essendon's salary cap for top-up players.

A quick reading of the decision:
- players criticised for not disclosing on ASADA forms when tested
- players criticised for group decision re secrecy of program
- CAS (2 members at least) prepared to draw inferences from intent and facts in reaching comfortable satisfaction threshold - eg wanted TB4, ordered TB4, TB4 has the effect being sought and Thymosin Alpha doesn't, therefore what was administered was TB4 and not Thymosin Alpha. This to me seems to be the main difference between CAS and AFL tribunal. There was some new evidence about the manufacture of TB4 and testing, but not clear to me that any of that was crucial.
