Yer i think Ablett starting breaking the tag and Wellingham was moved off...the game was pretty much done and dusted anyway.
Rhyce on Embley is a distinct option....but i reckon Embley may be too strong in a marking contest for Rhyce. Rhyce is 182cm and Embley is 190. Pendlebury is also 190, as is Ryan Lonie if he were to come in for any injuries (but Leon is not named on the injury list so it is looking like we will go in unchanged).
Just reckon Embley would be imposing on Rhyce Shaw and would exploit his height advantage. But if Embley is spending the majority of his time on the ball or behind the ball, then height is not that big an issue. Its when he goes forward that i worry with Rhyce.

How about Thomas? Worth considering? I think Thomas has been a lot better since he has been given run-with jobs, he's reasonably tall and has a great leap, could be found out body-on-body though, so this may be a good learning experience for him, and it keeps Pendles out of a run-with role - i.e., make them worry about who goes to Pendlebuty.DaVe86 wrote:Rhyce on Embley is a distinct option....but i reckon Embley may be too strong in a marking contest for Rhyce. Like your anaylsis Dave.it makes so much sense. Read it each week and then go and see how they match up on the Day. You are nearly always spot on!!DaVe86 wrote:Yer i think Ablett starting breaking the tag and Wellingham was moved off...the game was pretty much done and dusted anyway.

If Davis is fit, one change only.
If Davis is out, I'd rather someone who plays accountable footy come in. I'd go for Iles can play on ball, tag and delivers well into the forward line. I think Wood should come in for Bryan... not sure why but i have a feeling Bryan will get taken out of it and not have much impact on play.

Thomas on Embley is enticing...i also agree he has been incredible in these run with roles. He started on Bartel last week.
Its not a tight tag....but what our players are doing is simply playing accountable and ensuring possessions are hard fought and they do not receive any loose possessions. Then when we get the ball, they run off.
Mick is picking Thomas on the most unaccountable player. This means that Thomas gets very very loose, whilst his damaging opponent is atleast looked after.
Kane Cornes has been doing it successfully for year...except he plays a little tighter.
Wellingham was fantastic doing it in the first quarter against Ablett. What MM is doing is backing our player to be more damaging. I like Thomas on Embley...body to body is a worry, but if Embley starts in the centre i would go this option.
On Davis...i have not heard anything since the injury occurred on Friday night about it. He is not named on the injury list, was not mentioned in Doc Larkins report either on the Footy Show.
If anyone has any information regarding his training this week could you let me know.
If Davis was to pull out, Lonie should be the man to come in, simply because he is the best matchup on our list for Embley, and whilst our confidence is up he is the cream.
I agree re: Bryan...I would like Wood for this game...but i dont think it is possible to drop Bryan after his past fortnight.
Bryan has been good the last 2 weeks because he has come up against immobile ruckman. Gardiner, King, Blake, West....none move well around the ground. They all smashed him in the hitouts, but Bryan's influence was far greater.
This week, he comes up against Dean Cox who will not only beat him in the hitouts, but also smash him aroudn the ground for pace and agility.
That said, he played a beauty in the semi final last year, and that was with Richards as a sidekick. Theres no way he'll be dropped.
