Fantastic effort.
Best: Rocca, Swan, Heath, Leon.
Brown and Wood were both brilliant. Didn't see the same Egan game as everyone else. Did some good things, but didn't overly impress me to be honest.
Shattered about Rusling. All the best to you mate.
Good to see Tarrant struggle, and Medhurst dominate. Though we really should've buried them. We had a few opportunities to run into an open goal, but twice Leon fumbled (not that I care because he was brilliant), once Medhurst hit the post when he should've drilled it 10 times out of 10.. and once Didak kicked it out of the air instead of tapping it on to Pendles.
Oh well, great win.

A 6 goal haul to start the year for Rocca is a fantastic confidence boost. Neon Leon got me out of my seat several times in the second half, the igniter for sure. Rusling did some good work before his injury, really hope it has done no damage to that problem shoulder of his, he deserves to have a nice round season. Wood was fantastic, his untouched chip forward after clearing the bounce was well weighted and directed ended up being a good pass. Tarks put in a massive effort like usual, he's a real workhorse. Maxwell's charging tackle happened right infront of me and it was a beautiful piece of work. The Shaw boys both saw a lot of ball and handled it well.

Fantastic stuff today, 4 points, never mind the kinks to iron out. Just logged out to say I never, ever thought this time last year my favourite player would be Paul Medhurst. His commitment is amazing, he's an inspirational pick up. No matter what happens this season, if anyone feels like complaining, you could support a team that traded The Medic and Pick 8 for Chris Tarrant.
Very, very proud of Pebs and the team today

Racer Shaw. Absolute ripper. Going to be his year, this one. While a couple of disposals were off, what about eight or 10 he was hammering right on the target!! Credit where credit's due, there is no doubt this bloke is improving. Plus he goes flat out and I reckon has even picked up a yard of pace. Well done boys, a great effort

Great way to start the season by all accounts, and I'm ecstatic that Wood and Brown put in a good show. So disappointed though that I'm going to have to wait for Favourites' video to see any footage of the game (the guy should get a medal or something, for services to Collingwood supporters)... maybe I'll check out foxtel at my girlfriend's house and see if they're replaying it.

Good. I'm glad he did, he deserved it. There is a time and a place for those sort of kicks... and 20 metres out, with an open player in front of you is NOT one of those times.Dave The Man wrote:Pendles Blasted Dids For That - Simmlar to Bucksktszyu1 wrote: and once Didak kicked it out of the air instead of tapping it on to Pendles.
Didak played well though, just wish Mick would play him in the bloody midfield. Same with Thomas... he didn't start in the centre square once!

Goddamn I enjoyed that.
Good first quarter, scrappy after that, pwned them in the last quarter.
Pebbles copped stick from members of the crowd, but finished with 6 (or so) and played great. Trav ran around but didn't do much.
Brown gave Pavlich a bath. Pavlich's stats are totally misleading, cos tghe few he got early, Brown pushed him right out past the 50 to get them. It wasn't til he went into the midfield to get away from Brown that he got some ball.
Overall, rusty, but great to get a win.
Only downside was going to Lexus after the game and standing outside for 20 minutes because the doors were shut for no good reason. Total Bullsh1t.

we didnt miss too many, other than wood and medder's posts our kicking was ok, there were a few rushed behinds and points that couldnt be avoided, nomad pie wrote:My one minute assessment:
Good first up game - great opening and last quarter. Skills well off, however, would expect to improve from here. If we kicked straight would have one by a lot more.
Congratulations to Wood and Brown - good first up games.
Rocca is looking smooth - hopefully back to his pre-injury self.
That second goal from Leon was a highlight - it was at that point when the pies were starting to look on-song.
Great to have footy back.
i was really happy with their kicking. their passing to players was a little off though but it is round 1.

Yea Daisy was the spark we needed to break the game open IMO. was very even until he swung the pendulum our way.

great signs, pendles, marty, o'bree all quiet and johnno and burns tio come back, we can only get better and still look fantastic today. kick straighter and we would have won by 50 points.
rocca seemed to really be advantaged by all the extra attention that travis achieved, seemed to free big anth up a fair bit, couldbe a big year for him.
