I could not believe the crap field kicking tonight, from players who are normally deadly.
Pressure, or inferred pressure, I dont know but the number of turnovers (mind you, Adelaide had their fair share too) was just...............................................................................................................................................................

tonight there were some really good signs in amongst a whole game of uncertain, stop and start, backwards and sidewards kicking. no run and carry, not enough drive forward, as usual little use of the corridor, and much too relaxed against direct opponents who clearly were desperate to win. the lack of pressure and intensity was there to see. just not enough desire from the playing group.
at this time of the year, especially having risen out of a bad flat patch a few weeks back and last week showing such positivity and pressure, just cant understand it. leads me to imagine that malthouse could have said something like, 'take it easy out there tonight boys, dont go too hard, if we lose this week it means little in the wider finals picture.'

Boy we play shit at Telstra. Was surrounded by crows fans tonight and when Rocca had that set shot for goal in the last quarter, on a better angle than most shots all night, this crows fan says to us, "if Rocca misses this, you will lose"". Spot on. The ball went down to the crwos forward line in a hurry and, bang, they get the goal. 2 goal turnaraound. He was right.
Extremely poor use of the ball all night, especially the !st when unforced errors were 20 to the crows 3.
It seems to be the same story everytime we lose. No consistency in intensity.

Ugly, ugly, ugly football. I didn't enjoy the game at all. We played their game on their terms and got beaten comprehensively. Sadly Bucks did not impose his pressence on the game. I admit that its game two after a long a frustrating delay to his season but he looks too slow. He is not closing down the opposition nor losing his opponent. His mid field effort is bordering on tokenism. His own team mates do not seak him out, he is no longer the key figure that he formerly was.
Having said that, I adore his pin point accurate dispossals and his on field leadership. I desperately hope that he recaptures the essence that has made him the legend his is.

At least some positives - Reid was good as was Bryan. Medhurst has continued his good form. Collingwood doesn't have the depth of running players at the moment for Swan and H Shaw to be playing injured, especially with Frazer and Didak out. Plus Cloke should have been rested some weeks ago- his form is way off what it was earlier in the year. Somehow I don't think he will get back this year (hope i am proved wrong).
However, overall the year has been a massive postive.
Future forwards: Rusling, Cloke, Reid and possibly Dawes. Plus Rocca for a couple more seasons.
Running players: Clarke, Thomas, Pendlebury, H Shaw, Lockyer, Didak - real class. Plus Burns and Buckley possible for another season. Obree is handy.
Goldsac - What a find
Obrien - has faded but looks like could be a star of the future
Plus a lot of other potential bright spots. I don't agree with the negative comments on this thread.

BTW, for those who bag 7's coverage, I reckon Watson had half a mongrel over Reid all night and both Dennis and bwuce love Pendls and Daisy to bits.
I'm going tto bed, that took entirely too long to type.

I have seen my last game for the season as I am leaving for an overseas trip. This conference is always overseas at this time of year and the only other time I have been, was 2003...Having watched the pies all year I had to hear about our finals campaign from afar. It was tough but not as tough as you guys did it here on Grand Final day.
That year we finished strongly and look what happened. There are no guarantees. Who knows what this year will bring? I am away again so will try to keep in touch via Nicks. Good luck everyone.

Average performance, but as others have said, all is not lost.
Do we want another crack at Adelaide next week, or try to beat the Swans a third time? Common sense would seem to suggest the latter (as we have had two very convincing wins against them) but I'd kind of like to play against the Crows again, at the G, with a different line-up and see how we go. I have a feeling that we will lose if we play the Swans.

I know, I know the comments are going to come re: you can't blame the umpiring but the poor decision against Wakes swung momentum back to Adelaide. The umpires are sticking to the guidelines of the AFL to ensure there are at least 4 interstate sides in the finals again...seriously it has become an absolute joke.
Cheers

Agree. Hope it's the Crows. It would've been pretty difficult to conjure up the necessary motivation to beat that type of game plan in what was essentially a dead rubber. Very confident against Adelaide at the MCG in a final.David wrote:Average performance, but as others have said, all is not lost.

Got home last night and just went straight to bed.
What a crap game.
The umpires were crap.
adelaide were crap.
WE WERE WORSE.
Fair dinkum I see less errors at Auskick. I don't care who we play next week.
Play like last night and we'll be out of the finals race in 1 week.
Unlikely, but if hawthorn and the kangaroos lose this week, I'll throw up.
