Best tackling effort for yonks, for years as a matter-of-fact. Best team effort in a long time. What I mean by that is, every player did their job, no total standouts. Cliff (Guy) Richards very good, still has a heap to do though. Dale just tops, Burns (Saint Scott of Collingwood) has been drinking from the fountain of youth, has turned back the clock.
Wakes, thank heck we didn`t shunt him off last year, Blinder. Marty Clark(e), solid first game with 20 touches. His kick or pass to Thomas 50 metres away hit the spot perfectly. Swanny had to play as a defender tonight and did well, same with Brodes, but I thought Brodes had a poor game, 25 touches and 3 goals next week Brodes.
Dids and leon so so. Ant and Trav presenting very well. Travs aggression is what I like at the moment, the tackles and hunger for the ball is first rate. Ant and Trav, kick the ball straight for FCK SAKE, Im running out of things to smash at my joint.
First year lads, cox has got it, needs more games. stanley and the sack were good as well, considering the players we had out, they handled the pressure very well.
Hope Ant gets off, if he don't, maybe josh at FF and bring in bryan.
Great effort tonight, and another great win on the road. Stick that up ya A ya Sydney turds
Almost forgot, Mick Malthouse great job.

And what about the young kids:
Alan Toovey is a tough player who shows a lot of composure.
Shannon Cox has the potential to be one of our top key defenders.
Brad Dick is already a very dangerous goalsneak.
Tyson Goldsack is, after just 5 games, a walkup start in the defence. Some of the things he did tonight were superb.
Danny Stanley is going to be a fine player. May have been beaten on his debut, but even in that game did some really good stuff. Has a cool head under pressure and can apparently play in several positions.
Martin Clarke is a gun who obviously knows how to play sport at the top level. Looked completely at home.
And then you have some of the others... Dale Thomas, Scott Pendlebury, Heath Shaw, Harry O'Brien, Travis Cloke and Nick Maxwell. It's hard to believe how young these players still are, and yet they already have such a vital role in the side.
Forget the baby bombers. 2007 is the year of the baby magpies!

i am out of the country so all day i have been patiently waiting for the video to be uploaded to the net.
but all day ive just been busting, and restless, and in the end i couldnt help myself and couldnt wait any longer: i just had to check the score
i went over to bigfooty.com first and saw the first thread was: Bye Bye Rocca
i immediately shut off the screen and was devestated. i picked myself up again and went to afl.com.au expecting to see the worst
oh my when i saw a picture of a happy mm i started jumping in the middle of the office (thank god its a saturday and noone is here)
hahahahaha

Just got back from game so not sure what has been said but.........suspect TV did not do the game justice.
Our kids were sensational, we played in front all night, we kept the footy in front of us (ie adapted to the slippery condition better) and chased very hard.
I was critical of MM for the Melb loss, he coached as poorly as I have seen, tonight, he had them up, focussed and switched on from the 'get go'. Swans were gone from half way thru the first. We worried them out of it.
Everyone was good - even Richards. Should have had them buried at half time and Lockyer, Rocca and especially Cloke can take the blame for that.
Best win by the club in a long time.
Joffa - when you stuck on the jacket every Pie fan was watching!!!!!! Well done.

Oh yeah mate Clarke was very good. Watch also for Ants hanger and Daisy's last quarter snap that was the sealer. Daisy's no lumberjack but he gave me wood tonight. Sensational player.Kingswood wrote:wow and i was so keen on seeing martin clarke and it sounds like everybody has nothing but praise for this boy

How damn good was that?
Cant believe anyone ever wrote off Wakelin, superb game, absolutely destroyed Hall when the game was on the line, let him get away when it was over but oh well, 2 years in a row a thrashing turns into just a comfortable win, but the 4 points is all the matters, bring on the Hawks!!!!!!!!
Also great to meet a few Nicksters tonight, we may have had alot less supporters but made a hell of alot more noise

Went up Sydney excited as a 12 year old ( first live game in 15 years because I live in Italy) Ran into Joffa in the flesh (fantastico!) really thought we were going to be in for a hard game instead it was the poor Swannies who copped midfield pressure like never before I was wrapped with Sir Scot Burns, Obree was fantastic all night. Marty and Pendles exchanged the pill like they have been playing for ten years toghethor. Marty again was putting pressure on anything and everything. Thomas was exciting and finally got his range. Goldsack is a permanent fixture (keeps reminding me of Morwood) Everyone put in!!!!! Were goin places. Can't wait to see the replay.........lost me voice as well...

The highlight of the night for me was some moron of a Swans supporter sitting behind me who managed to justify every Swans free kick, claim the umpires missed quite a few as well, come up with some reason why every free kick we received was not there and then mocked Pies fans for being biased
The most worrying thing though was he claimed to be an Umpires coach in local league in Melbourne... Glad he isnt involved in any of the leagues I was with

Hey Mossi, know just how you feel, how great for you to get to see a gome live, nearly enough to make you want to live in Melbourne for 6 months of the year!Mossi wrote:Went up Sydney excited as a 12 year old ( first live game in 15 years because I live in Italy) Ran into Joffa in the flesh (fantastico!) really thought we were going to be in for a hard game instead it was the poor Swannies who copped midfield pressure like never before I was wrapped with Sir Scot Burns, Obree was fantastic all night. Looking at all the interstate and overseas comments in this thread is just proof on how far and wide the magpie army has stretched.
GO PIES!!!!!!
Mossi, really relate your post. Living in NZ and only get over for a few rare games, mainly at the G. Remember the days of catching the train up from Geelong to Vic Park and watching Mckenna get his bags of 10 or so, from the Rush stand!!
Love these baby Maggies emerging. Reckon this Sydney game has been a defining one for us.
Really enjoyed reading all the posts today.
