If both Clement and Presti are out, well, we have one very solid, experienced big backman in Wakelin, and two real triers in Nick and Harry. They can do it. (But I'd feel happier if Clement was in there to add experience - let's not forget that, Clement and Presti aside, our backs are still very young.)

As you say, The Drake, midfield pressure is te key.

But I'd add one more player who can take a heap of pressure off our key position backmen: Anthony Rocca. If big Ant can stand up and get amongst the goals, he could force Pagin to move Lance back into defence to cover him. With Whit out of the attack, our backmen can relax a little ... and if Ant gets going, Carlton can play whoever they like against him and it won't make much difference. A Rocca with his eye in and his confidence up will take grabs against any opponent. Could be a win-win.

With Presti and Clem out Fev will kick a bag, we haven't got anyone else strong enough to match him. Our midfield is much better though and our run from the backline will cause them huge headaches.
Realistically this should be a mininum 5 goal win.
But this is Carlton, they'll be hungrier than usual and we've been beaten by worse teams in our history. We're good enough to give them a royal spanking, let's hope our boys are switched, no reason why we shouldn't be.

Fev kicks a bag most weeks and the scum still lose, so that's not a problem.

Clement shouldnt play and Presti was wearing the moon boot when getting onto the bus but for once the depth is there however we will see Carlton go tall down Forward and put the pressure on, I now get to see my favourite match up, Maxwell v Cam :D

Guys, were they leading us at 1/2-time late last year before we ran over them by 44 points in the end?
Nobody freak out if we can't shake them off for 3 quarters.
A percentage booster would be nice though.
And we gotta square the ledger with these pricks too, how many games are they in front of us in head-to-head?

Oh FFS!! It'll take 5 years unblemished to get close! Those years in the mid 90s really opened the gap.... Who would have thought, that after rnd.2 1994 (the McGuane goal) that 1998 would be our next win, and McGuane was wearing their shit by then!

The key is to let Fev kick his six or seven goals, but keep the others... forward crummers/midfield tally low and make sure we are accurate in front of the big sticks this week then we should be okay.
Never disperse your focus unless absolutely necessary. Face one adversary at a time!

Presti and Clement both didn't train today, and the Pies are likely to make five changes for the upcoming week - Ch10 Sport.

Yeah...I witnessed those horrible, horrible GF defeats in late 70's and 80's ( I was pretty young but remember them too well!). Hard to forget really. Worried about Presti and Clemo not being there, we know Fev can kick a bag, we just gotta make sure it doesnt get to him!!
PS My 'I Hate Carlton' badge must be somewhere.......

If you want to know how much I hate them, well my ambition in the 1980's was to be on juryduty when someone was arrested for burning down Princes Park so I could find them NOT GUILTY
