Hmmm - as I said - why not focus on how well the two played. Rocca and particularly Cloke presented well all night.steviewonder36 wrote:Carn the Pies, great win tonite.
Chris Bryan looks to have cemented his spot for a few weeks.
Need to take Rocca and Cloke aside and correct their kicking for goal, it will cost us sooner or later.
We proved once again, that we definately travel quite well these days.

Rhyce Shaw: ran hard and fast, kicked it long. Didn't always hit targets, but was never afraid to bang it into the forward line. Our best player on the night. Our best player on the night, for mine, but see the next three or four names for other worthy contenders for BOG honours.
Leon: A great effort from Leon Davis in an unfamiliar role: midfielder and half-back, even back into the defensive goal square. Gave us real grunt - and skill - around the packs. Best game I've seen from Leon.
Swan: The unsung hero. Many times he was the man who got the tough clearance. 32 possessions, and a lot of them hard-ball gets.
Harry: Just gets better every game. An excellent defender, plays tall, plays small, keeps a cool head. Unlucky not to get a vote.
Nick Maxwell: with Clement and Presti both spending time off the ground, Nick flew with the big boys and made the spoils, he ran, he has great hands, never takes a backwards step, can run forward and be effective there too. Excellent game from Maxy.
Scott Burns: Played like he thought he was Scott Burns. What else can I say?
Pendles: Brilliant early, hard-working and steady all day.
Travis Cloke: Played the way he did last week. Tried his best to kick straight from very sharp angles, slotted a couple. Worked hard and with courage to keep the ball in the 50 when the Crows had it.
Fraser: Just OK in the ruck, but ran and ran to make space and be the link-up man. A cool head, good kicking, his best game all year.
Lockyer: not the dominator he was a couple of weeks ago (a fraction slower?) but a very, very good game from Tarks. He is playing with a drive and intensity that just transforms him. Now a vital part of our midfield.
Bryan: Added grunt in the ruck, and when sent forward to the goal square, played like he thought he was Anthony Rocca. Kicked 3, could have kicked 5. Made the difference between the sides.
Clement: Same as every other week.
Johnno: Didn't dominate, did his job.
Dick: Played with dash and skill. Did a few very good things, nearly pulled off a couple of miracles. Watch this space.
Toovey: Solid, reliable. Played like a veteran.
O'Bree: Quiet early, became more important as the game went on.
Thomas: Great when he gets it, needs to get it more if he is going to be the super-star he is going to be. Nevertheless, did his part with his usual dash.
Egan: Has an uncanny ability to find space up forward, but seems to get a bit confused about what to do with the ball after he gets it. Good early, faded away and was barely sighted after half time.
Heath Shaw: was beaten early, thrashed through the middle of the game, but to his great credit, fought back to contribute significantly to the Magpies' great revival.
Presti: Spent a lot of time off injured. Came back and steadied the defence which looked close to panic after 6 unanswered Crows goals.
Rocca: tried hard, did some stuff, didn't kick a goal or take more than a couple of marks, but his bulk and bash & crash was valuable. As ever, his second efforts and his tackling were spot on.
Cox: Given a man too fast and tall for him in the 2nd quarter, couldn't cope, looked rattled, but played on (with Maxi and then Harry minding his man) and remained useful. Will learn from this game.

Random thoughts...
Travis was awesome in the lead up role.
O'Brien is risky but is cutting the nerves down as each week goes by.
The defence stood tall when Presti and Jimmy went down.
Heath and Rhyce are the keys off halfback with their rebound. Great tradition continuing.
Loved Tarks' match, in fact, loved his whole 2007. He is a kid again, and is playing like it's 2001/2002.
Burnsy pumps on forever and ever, the guy IS Collingwood.
Leon was ice cool across defence, and all around the ground. Really rated his game highly.
The kids have something special - Dale, Pendles, Tooves were all BRILLIANT! and Dicky and Cox were here and there, but such a great experience for all nonetheless. And we forget that Travis is still a kid, too.
Bryan and Fraser as a rucking team could work, potentially a la Stunning and Josh in the early years. Richards can now provide some healthy competition.
Rocca was well beaten by Rutten, but gave a contest, and brought the ball to ground, and in the sort of game that was played, that's perfect.
Jonno through the middle was terrific as was Swanny, and real kudos to Maxy in defence, he worked his heart out and is Collingwood to the bone.
We can go places in 2007, as long as we all keep pulling in the one direction and keep riding the wave that is youth. Time to cement next week against Carlton, and absolutely give them a pasting to remember. Keep the head down and keep working.

Hey I'll be fair to Trav, by the way. Kicking wasn't always good, but he DID stand up a couple of times and kick important goals, one of them I think from quite an acute angle. And there was at least one poster in there.

Pretty good win , if we had have kicked straight it could have been an excellent win.
Very happy with the continued form of the middle tier , which in previous years contained players who frustrated and at times horrified me , but they have really turned themselves around and I sincerely hope it continues as it is the vital component to our success at the moment.
My mate Tarkyn seems to have been able to hold on to the testicles that he has had handed back to him in the pre-season .He is in career best form and would be leading the Copeland. Tarkyn is actually damaging and hasn't noticeably squibbed it this year , hopefully he is an inspiration to the currently injured Lonie.
R.Shaw's field kicking tonight was very good and he ran hard and with purpose , there were no noticeable brain fades.
Fraser was quite handy around the ground , the ruck hit outs are still an area of concern , but I liked the running goal to seal it.
Johnno,Swan,Heath,Harry.Burns and O'Bree continue on their path of consistency and effectiveness. Burns is just an unstoppable force.
Cox and Dick were quiet tonight. Maybe time for Dick to have a rest in the 2's to make way for Medhurst if he comes up.
Trav as always ran hard and attracted ball , the goal kicking technique ain't great , compared to how he kicks in general play , but if he keeps on working at it we can atleast hope he improves to 3.2 instead of 2.3.
Finally Chris Bryan and his 3 goals second half goals were vital and he gives us yet another option forward.Wasn't a sterling rucking performance , but you can't complain if he is able to offer you something else when needed. With his kicking talent it could have quite easily been 5 , but that was the story of the night...wasteful, but still able to stand up when it counted.

Stick it up them
Loved watching Coach Craig's conduct in the box!! His teeth seemed to fall out a few times!
I love this club and I hold anyone in contempt who does not think it is worth fighting for.
