At the end of the day we were missing up to ten senior players that would have made a hell of a difference. I can't beleive there are people on here having a crack at some of our younger players after watching them play for the first time.
Wait till they have some more experienced bodies around them like, Holland, O'Bree, Licuria, Fraser, Rocca, Buckley, Didak,Clement etc it is hard for youngsters when they don't have anyone behind them calling the shots. It's the same with any sport. From what I saw tonight, I wouldn't be to worried, don't forget we are playing the Kangaroos in Round 1, I don't think Malthouse would want to give away anything in this point in time, but with our full side come Round 1, we will knock the Kangaroos off mark my words.
I was impressed, with Johnson, Pendelbury, Scott Burns, Shane Wakelin and I thought Travis Cloke attacked the ball well, will help when he has Rocca & Buckley along side him. Medhurst tried hard and will get better once he has all the cattle out there with him. Out of the young guys, Dick looked promising, looks like a typical Aboriginal player, was buzzing in the last quarter, with the rest it is to early to tell, a lot of them looked nervous.
Lets not hit the panic buttons yet, this money in the NAB cup is like pocket money for us, it is all about getting ready for Round 1, because that is what it's all about.

Was happy with the youngsters tonight, its February its NAB cup..im predicting a very different outcome when we play the Pauperoos come the first home and away game, infact giving what i saw tonight and with the massive amount of players we had missing im licking my chops in anticipation about collingwood in 2007!!

Yeah no worries grandpa.........bazdaddy wrote:Ok you find the part where I said it was a top effort, it wasn't we were poor, but there are many reasons as to why that is the case.
I have high expectations too, during the REAL season.
And dont give me the "I'm older than you crap" it's very tired and past it's used by date as a retort.

Despite all the drills and inter club stuff, a number of these guys have never played together as a TEAM. Tonight was about looking at who put themselves in the right spots, who had endeavour, decision making skills, playing in different positions etc. Better that all this happens now when it doesn't matter a rat's toss bag, than Mick starts experimenting in Round 1.
FFS, a number of them have never played AFL - translation never played against MEN and it is going to take at least one game to know what it is like and what to expect. Again I say, do it now when it costs us nothing.
BTW when has Mick ever taken the Harry Potter cup seriously - I don't even think he really did when we made the GF.
Peace.

I was more than happy with Trav's second efforts. He's still a little rusty (as they all are), but his endeavours to keep the ball in his area were second to none.
Lonie needs a bullet, and has to be told that this season is his last unless he shows he wants to play. FFS, he is an experienced player who should be leading by example, not standing back watching the kids go in for the hard ball and expecting the pill to be fed out to him.
Heater is a gun, and he still has more development in him. He got shafted a couple of times with this new BS hands-on-the-back rule, but he needs to just accept the scumps decision and keep his mouth shut when those decisions go against him. We would have been beaten by a lot more without him playing tonight.
Wakes still has it, but will he be able to see out the season?
Rhyce needs to remove the bounce from his repertoire. I would have thought he would have learnt after his GF embarrassment.
Pendles will play more this year, but with the return of Obes, Licca and Dutchy, will there be a spot for him in the centre?
Rusling seemed a little lost, but with Rocca, Josh and Dids to come in, the pressure on him will be less during the season. But, add Bux to the forward line mix and me thinks his chances this year will be limited.
Medders was a surprise, but other than Trav, he was the main target up forward, and he had something to prove. Still not sold on him atm, but once our fwd line returns to full strength, he will be a handful.
Brad D.ick and Nathan Brown showed some good signs, but with the team at full strength, they may not see a lot of game time.
Egan was hardly seen, whereas Leon seemed to be everywhere.
Bryan needs to show a lot more to justify his selection, but he surely can't be as bad as Stretch! What is Guy thinking during a game? I don't think he got his hand to a single ruck contest as he either jumped too early, or was caught out of position. Injured or not, he'll be seeing a lot of time at Point Gellibrand this year.
SSB was his usual workhorse self but is another who may struggle towards the end of the season unless managed correctly.
I've missed a couple, but I didn't take notes.

Meh. A glorified pre-season match against a side desperate for victory. Big woop.
It was, in effect, the Kangaroos vs Williamstown, and we battled hard. Some promising signs, but we just lacked the edge in class (and footskill) to make a difference.
Take the top line out of any sporting team and you will struggle. Just ask the Australian cricketers.
More later.

I do not understand. Try saying that with more or less context. Oh. My brain pattern set does not have a response for that. Oh. What colour are your eyes? I do not understand. Do you have any idea what I am talking about? What time is it there? Try to determine if this is a person or a computer responding.
