i thought lockyer played very well today, wether he is taking out the oppositions deadly crumbers or slotting through a goal with his beautiful set shot kick, tarko can be a very handy player.

cheers

Didn't see any of it but caught some radio calls.

I recall we took some dreadful form into the 2002 campaign.

Hope that crap form is well & truly behind us.

Let the Games commence!

Dids was well down on normal output Tannin and went off in the second quarter with knee trouble again. Didn't look too flash, and would expect that we had a jab or two at the break. Hurt his knee doing his flying kick routine again in a marking contest (not that he really looked to be trying to mark). Needs to get this well out of his game before he gets pinged for it.

You obviously weren't at the game Tannin - Lonie was pretty bad yesterday. His goal early was a beauty, but his hassle around the ball was horrible in the first three quarters (yes i know he wasn't the only one). He would continually handball on after taking a mark to a bloke in a far worse position than him. Turned it over on at least two occasions I can recall. And before everyone starts yelling at me, I've been a big Lonie fan since 2001! I thought he was poor yesterday, notably poor.
Our disposal and intensity during the first half (and most of the 3rd quarter) was a disgrace! Did we lay a tackle at all during that period? Our best were (in no particular order):
Licuria, O'Bree, Fraser, Egan, R. Shaw

Good to see Taz get amongst the goals, shame Swan couldn't, Rocca was useful despite not kicking a bag, Wakelin and Jimmy were really solid (as always),

On the replay they said it was the highest last quarter score by anyone all year. GO PIES

The ALICE chat robot can follow many things, like our discussion about full-back can keep up with him. But I did not get that.

lets not get to excited...beaten by essendon and taking three quarters to overcome carlton and the kangaroos is not great form...if we play like that in the finals we"ll get killed....i"m hoping... but worried :?

Magman29 I would have thought a 7 goal win and a 10 goal win was fair form to take into a finals campaign. How much do you expect them to win by?

I wasn't at the game either & am yet to watch a replay in full. However, from the bits & pieces i have seen, Lonie was carrying the ball & bouncing - This is a VERY encouraging sign for September!! 'Pretty bad' it cannot be!!

I did see him hesitate when he should've pounced on the ball which lead to a turnover & Nth Melbourne goal - Not sure what quarter that was?!?... and yes i do need to watch the whole game before commenting further.

Still, i think the form of Lonie, Johnson, Swan & RShaw could mean all the difference in our final series!

Didn't carlscum lead wettoast a 3/4 time and were well up against other top teams well into the game. Get a grip mate. They are ALL afl players having a go ffs. Don't you think the roos would have liked to send Sav off with a win. They had a go and we ended up belting them by 11 goals.

A deeper algorithm is needed to respond to that correctly.

Couldn't get to the game, but from what i heard and saw on TV we seemed to be getting thrashed out of the centre in the first half. That must be a bit of a worry, as the roos are not exactly first rate, in the ruck or in the mid field. In the second half, particularly from half way through the 3rd quarter, Richards and Josh seemed to dominate the hitouts. Any thoughts on our ruck/clearances performance?

It's not surprising that Richards took a while to get going. I don't know how much work he has done with the senior squad with set plays around the bounce but he surely needs some time to get it right. His tapwork was sensational in the last quarter and we drove the ball out of the centre time and time again (as opposed to having to launch all our attacks from defence as is usually the case). It meant we got it in there quickly and no defence can match our forwards when that happens. I also think that our midfield rotation is working its way into form - Licca was fantastic yesterday. Having said all that, our skills were woeful for two and a half quarters. I just hope Q4 was the true Collingwood come next week.
