A win is a win but we should have smashed em.

Just watched C3's post match interview. Good on him and C1 as well.
Great to see em back and firing.

Bring on the Cows.

Only game Ill get to watch live this year unfortunately, as Ill be returning to London next Friday. Not the greatest advertisement for AFL footy by a long way, but like most Pies fans I will toe along the line of "4 points, one win closer to the finals, thank you nicely"

Only wanted to have my two bobs worth on a couple of incidents. Firstly, Im confident Benny Johnsons got nothing to worry about re: the Croad incident. Granted it was high, but far from intentional. Second, Im sure that my eyes were playing tricks on me tonight, as Im sure Jimmy Clement must have been wearing a Hawks jumper....on 4 occasions I reckon I counted a Hawk player hit him lace out on the chest when going into attack?!? Amazing.

Shame about Leon if the injury is as bad as feared, thought he did very well in all the little things, chasing, shepparding etc. Heath Shaw is a monty for the Rising Star surely! Probably the best of the youngsters coming through based on consistency and courage.

There wernt too many passengers, which was a good sign. 45 points sounds comfortable, but there is plenty of room for improvement...another good sign. Next week the acid test against the best in the league!

Thats my bit...will listen in with interest from the UK and hope to make a visit to my airline in late September in order to change my flight home to cheer the Pies on in another Grand Final. Long way off I know, but anythings possible. Cheers guys, and Go pies!

I'm in London, but I got to listen to bloody 3AW over the web. Sounds like we missed an opportunity to really boost our percentage, but a win is a win, and it was great to have both the Cloke boys playing some terrific footy. Shame about Leon, but let's hope he can recover in time for the finals.

Well I was there tonight at the G and enjoyed the win.

I feel that some fans here belong to the group of Magpie fans who continue to have totally unrealistically high expectations of annihilating all opposition teams, and that only sets you up for failure. This used to happen in the 60's and 70's on a fairly regular basis because some opposition teams were not fit or have the same level of skills or talent as Collingwood. But this wont easily happen in modern football, especially since the introduction of the draft.
What do you reckon opposition coaches say to their teams at half time dude?
Just lie down and get killed? Let the 'pies win by 150 points? ALL AFL clubs these days are proud professional clubs who DO NOT lay down, and they fight to the very last second. They never give up. Let me tell you a little secret, winning AFL games these days by even a point is NOT easy, let alone by 45 points. This is not a fantasy competition, it is REAL. So you have to be realistic in your expectations rather than typically over the top in a dream world expecting to win by over 100 points and being pissed off when they win by "only" 45 points!! Geez!! I can only hope that Collingwood won every game in the season by 45 points!!!

Lazza We were 40 points in front at Quarter time and in Bucks 250th if that doesn't inspire you to run away with the game, then nothing will.

We were worse than ordinary tonight and it is not unrealistic when you have a team by the Neck to expcet your team to go in for "The Kill".

As Teddy Witten says, YOU HAVE TO INSPIRE ME!!!!!!!

Unfortunately after quarter time, it was only Insipid.

too true Lazza

plobbert spoils, we defininately weren't "worse than ordinary", or are you just trying to get my back up? :D :D  There was inspiration, despite the fact that i spent the second half playing games on my mobile phone.

a good - but not great - win, and good to see some accomplished performances by a few unsung types

The most encouraging aspect of our game was the attack on the ball. Something like 60+ tackles. That's encouraging with finals coming up.

Leon's injury is a big blow though.

I suspect that Hawthorn dragged us down to their level in the second half. I'm not worried though. I reckon the Clokes are coming good at the right end of the season which should help set us up for a good finals campaign. I tip us to beat the Crows next week.

Mick the only thing that can beat us against hawthorn is ATTITUDE.
If we are not switched on and take it easy we will lose. We are odds on favourites to beat hawthorn lets show them why.

Hawks strengths
-there unknown consistency with there kids, they will go in with a nothing to lose attitude
-spider if he plays this will be a good dule with fraser , richards i reckon must come in to give fraser a chop out.
-dixon he has one good game a year clement for me
-crawford and mitchell hodge must quell there influence or amount of possesions crawford may be still underdone.
-buddy franklin another unknown has shown some glimpses presti shut him down
- big al will play dawson on rocca, why do you say to see if he has improved(dawson) Dawson will have o point to prove to rocca after last time.

how do we win
- our attack on the ball and opponent must be strong and hard hawthorn will play the keepings of style of play
- play on quickly and kick long we have the foward line to kick big scores
-tazza run everywhere in that foward line keep leading to our boys honour his leads and kick it quickly to him, if you are in range have a shot don't look to pass of.
-lonie,johnson,swan obree run and run and run, lonie kick it long every time you get it.
- burns buckley do whot we expect from you week in week out
-rocca we need you to find some form especially for next week.
-travis you will play half back again this week.

again our attitude will be the determining factor.

my team
johnson presti heath

lonie t cloke clement

swan holland obree

magic tarrant burns

didak rocca egan

rucks fraser, buckley, davies

inter richards, pendlebury, r shaw, j. cloke

Our effort and attitude won this game in the first half then it was junk time football after that, we did enough when hawthorn threatened.
points from the game
-josh well done beat everitt easily
-tazza well done kept presenting good to see when you are haveing a shot you look like you want to have a shot ,your goal kicking will turnaround, persist persist persist.
-travis great game son thats the role we need you to play you can do it,I know i said play defence but the week before i wanted you to play that foward role.
-j cloke best game i have seen you play in a long time, maybe now we have to find the right match up for you to play that game.
-rocca not a great game but got near the footy 4 goals well done
-maxwell we have missed you you freed up j cloke and got possesions your self
-bucks clement burns presti don't have to say anything polished as usual.
-magic great game hopefully its only a ankle sprain

Since going to the game and after watching the Replay it was pretty evident that we took the foot off. We travel to Adelaide then play Don's in Melb then play Port in Adelaide again. Conserve energy we did and still won by 45.
But just in passing, when Tarrant kicks well he is bloody good, when he kicks bad he is woeful. Just no middle ground for this bloke. If Tarrant was on line we would have kicked 21-22. 16.18 is just appalling.
We have a good a chance as any of beating Cows next week. I hope the Eagles run them off their feet, don't really care who wins. Just make it a hard contest.

Well done to J.Cloke had a cracker, bye bye Morrison....Please!!
All this may be summed up in one word - CHARACTER - and if that is not worth developing, nothing is.

Well for me, a wins a win! If someone had told me 45 points at the start of the game, I would have taken it any time! Yeah fair enough, it could have been a percentage booster, but at the end of the day, its about the 4 points and put the pressure right back on the other clubs!

Lets hope a few games go our way:
Adelaide to beat West Coast
Bulldogs to beat Melbourne

Kicking for goal at times was terrible and thats what should have made it a 80 point margin! One thing about Taz is that when his kicking is off, it really is off. However atleast he is presenting himself very well!
The Clokes in my mind were superb and hats of to C1 as he was very solid in defence!

The umpiring was terrible and I have to admit, it was very much in our favour. True you get those decisions when you are first at the ball, but some of those decisions were pretty soft to the highest order!

Very Happy with a win, regardless of the margin. There is no doubt that for the vast majority of the game we totally outclassed them, the margin was flattering... for them. We should have buried them, although partly blame bad kicking for goal. Agreed the umpiring was incredible for us early on, mcburney! unbefriggenleivable he normally crucifies us!

Heath Shaw is a very good footballer. Seriously I now don't give a rats how well this murphy bloke played early on in the year, Heath has been consistent for a far longer period. Our second rising star behind Bucks. Trav got a good goal after a good mark early and that set him up for the rest of the game confidence seemed to grow and grow. Maxwell good on his return game and will be better next week.

11 down, 1 to go!
Go Pies!

I'll take the win anyday, but i must admit, it was that boring a game, that i went to the pub half way through the 3rd term and had a few pots.

We'll beat Adelaide next week!
