No because everyone freakish talents are discovered in their first match of football in the pre season comp.maggies2003 wrote:Hmmmm.. Dale Thomas.. Interesting first up game.. not going to say too much now, as i wont criticise from his first game, especially in pre season, he seems likely to be a handy player for us in the future, showed good signs, although i think its fair to say that unfortunately he isnt a "freak".. which would have been nice to have..

wot a game.
thomas "the tank engine" played ok for his 1st game could of kicked goal/s but missed
j. cloke was hard at the ball every time which is good to see
t.cloke was also good. IF he plays at chb would we have wakes and presti in as fb and bp. would be intresting.
rocca he can not kick a goal inside 50 but most times then not gets them outside 50
i dont know wot our forward coach is teaching the boys but it sure is not goal kicking practise
overall a pretty good game. bring on the next game and more stars to come in the side.

Oh, I get it ...
This Thomas kid must be the pre-season hype player. I wasn't aware of that because I make a point of not thinking about football in the off-season.
I watched Thomas today completely unaware of his reputation ... and what I saw was a young kid making a fairly promising start. I just thought "he looks like he might be all right."
If you expect a new player to live up to his hype you will almost always be disappointed. Remember the hype around Josh Fraser when he started? He was supposed to be the greatest thing to ever look through a bridle, but he wasn't. A lot of people thought we'd stuffed up by recruiting him. But several years later you'd have to say he's a very good player. And that's really all you can expect from anyone.

How could u say unfortunatley dale isnt going to be a freak, when he plays 15 minutes of pre season footy, yeah sure he missed to goals which he would usually kick, but u tell me u wouldnt miss infront of a buzzing TD, trust me he is gonna be a freak dont u worry,
i thought he played a top first game, his first disposal set the scene i think, i diving mark with the handball to a player running past while still in the air...
He really stepped it up in the OT and was one of the reasons we won i think...

Exactly, dont let one St. Kilda supporter say tommoz that they wernt playing to win - i think its a top effort especially without Bucks, Burns, Clement, Wakelin...Cam wrote:Make no mistake, St Kilda were trying to win this one and wanted it pretty badly to set up their season. Why else would everyone, including that waste of a paypacket hamill, be out there - bar the injured kosi and clarkes? That makes this win the little bit sweeter.

Peter Daicos' first kick was out on the full. Mind you we beat the Aints that day too...by a record margin.bazdaddy wrote:No because everyone freakish talents are discovered in their first match of football in the pre season comp.maggies2003 wrote:Hmmmm.. You should have seen the one Andrew Schauble wore in his last game with the Pies @ Victoria Park V Brisbane, 1999. Schaubs used to wear number 12, but the jumper he had on that day was a number 2 jumper with the 1 drawn in front of it in texta.-magpies are 2 good- wrote:whats the go with o'bree's jumper?
the 2 number 1's are that far apart its like another set of goal posts
