Well i would think Nick Steven would take his place in the midfield.
I cry tears of blood for the black and white but it doesn't mean i'll be a good player for the pies.

But can't we have both. I lurv being greedy.
Can't comment on Stevens, i refuse to watch any choker games so don't know what he is like...

Yeah we can have both but then what are we going to give up for him.
Unfortunately we have to give something up and Davis and Betharas won't do it. Trust me Syevens is quality.

It's because he played one bad game, and some people can't seem to get over the fact that the whole team played crap as a whole last week, not just one bloke in the #22 jumper.

Our Current Midfield is and is looking pretty good and add to that the Pies newest Recruit for 2004 Tarkyn Lockyer and we have a pretty impressive line up there...as i see it the following players are being used or could be used as midfielders:
Buckley - still 2 or 3 years left in him for sure
Burns - He IS Collingwood
Woey - Alot of people bagging him but didn't everyone have a pretty poor game in the granny....he is a gun
Licuria - did someone say Dual Copeland Winner
Lockyer - He will be ready to round 1 and will come back hungry
Holland - After trying him pretty much everywhere he became a surprise packet in the midfield for us and because of that is still learning his craft.
Didak - With his skills, pace and poise he would definately suit the midfield and could rotate through there when required
Scotland - Under rated and may go, but I hope not as I think he may have finally earnt a little respect
McGough - Sheez give thew kid a break..he is 18 and can still improve, if he can overcome his delivery problems (as shaw did this year) then he will be a great midfielder
Ok so look at that list, have I left anyone out?? so judging by that do we honestly need to be chasing another 6 footer midfield type....
I have no idea why we are not gunning for the likes of Dean Cox..an excellent bustling ruckman with great stats, and apparently he is up for trade...Dean Solomon...we need that little bit of experince and bulk down back for our backline to move to the next level and a forward such as Nathan Brown...providing a goal square target which will free up Taz to play his nautral game and allow Rocca to do his blocking stuff up forward to release our crummers....ie didak, davis etc....
All of us are being a little to emotional as to all the changes that need to be made, and I hope that the Pies keep a level head about them when going into trade negotiations and attaint he services of players that we actually need rather than whatever superstar is available....
Cheers
I agree with Northern Pie re the midfield, I think we are lacking in three areas
1- a goal kicking wingman (in the Andrew Embley mold)
2- a back-up to Josh (if you look at the best ruck teams going around in the comp- Adelaide, and Brisbane, even Port, they have two quality ruckmen, one is not necessarily better than the other but plays a different type of game-ie tap ruckmen, Jumper, physical- if we had a back up to Josh he could go forward with his excellent fitness and really trouble sides to match up on him)
3- A hard mid size backman (that can play on big and smalls, I know we have Clement but we need another one, Cole ,Shaw, Lonie are to physically soft- maybe Burns could go back-with Lockyer on ball )
Which in light of who is available in the draft I think our targets should be
Brown (would love to see him play on wing for the pies- especially if we did some work on his goal kicking accuracy)
Solomon (never takes a backward step, and a smart footy player to)
and maybe even Beaumont (I know he is a blue maggot but would be handy if available)
ruck is still a problem, but hopefully we will sort that out next year with Cloke, Richards and Walker all getting more of a chance
While Stevens would also be a good long term pickup we may not be able to satisfy ports demands.
having said that it looks unlikely that Brown will come to the Pies.
Which brings us to who could be traded
Mckee (if they won't pick him for the GF they will never pick him)
Kinnear (I shudder every time I see his name in the team)
Mcgough (I wouldn't like to see him traded he is very young and should be given another year at least, but you can't trade people that no-one wants and he has dropped in the pecking order this year)
Scotland (I also think he is a good player , but is probably the most expendable of the midfield group)
Williams (too soft)
Leon (also dropped behind O'bree and Didak for the small forward role- although he had a tough year personally and I would like to see him get another chance)
one of Lonie, Shaw and Cole (they all have their pros and cons but if the right deal came up I feel all three would be expendable)
I don't think there is any need for whole sale changes, just some tinkering around the edges, we have proven by coming second twice that we are in much better shape than most clubs.
Lastly I would like us to have at least one first round draft pick, I know we have picked up the Shaw boys under father and son,but our draft picks at the moment look pretty slim, although I do have the utmost confidence in Judkins to pull talent.
We should remember the whole season when trading not just the last game.
Remember to be supportive not destructive,we'll leave that for Richmond fans.

ross, a constructive and well thought out case.agree with much you have said, not all but respect yr arguments along with Northern Pie's earlier submission.

I think the dogs will trade an early pick to Port so they can pick up Cooney as the dogs will go for local talent. We then get Stevens from Port and give the Bulldogs our first draft pick and a player like Kinnear and Betheras.

So who have we decided to keep?
Sounds to me that we want to wipe the whole list (bar Bucks)
Come on guys, stop being emotional!

If we don't finally get rid of Kinnear I'll make sure "I" end his career. He is the biggest piece of shit in the team and doesn't deserve to wear the jumper. Plain and simple: HE IS SHITHOUSE!!
Trade Lica? You're on drugs dude!

Hmmmm yano what?? we wont know till it happens...grins...i would have loved Nathan Brown in the team, thats not gonna happen, i dont know much about Nick Stevens cuz i dont watch too many port matches...and if i had my way, id keep em all...laughs...but hmmm if any have to go, Yeah, Kinnear...I think he has had his time...perhaps McGough, only cuz there are others i like better than him...not saying i want him to go, just if we had to get rid of some...Id almost bet that Scotland will go, cuz he is prolly the best one to get anything for...worst luck, cuz i like him too...Not too many others left...we must have a sh** load of money now, with the likes of Rupe, Jarrod (cries), Richo, Freeo and perhaps McKee all goin...

Brown has nominated Richmond as his preferred team, that is all. Noone can "sign" anything till trade week. Also, Rcihamond and Doggies have to agree on a trade. If they cant, Brown needs to look at another club or go into the draft.
To complicate things, it is reported that Holland has said he will not go to the Dogs.
To nominate Richmond as your preferred club shows that more money is what he is really after.

by Cotta
B. Ben Johnson Simon Prestigiacomo Jason Cloke
HB. James Clement Shane Wakelin Richard Cole
C. Tarkyn Lockyer Nathan Buckley Shane Woewodin
HF. Alan Didak Anthony Rocca Shane O'Bree
FF. Tom Davidson Chris Tarrant Dane Swan
R. Josh Fraser Scott Burns Paul Licuria
I. Bo Nixon Heath Scotland Guy Richards Ryan Lonie
E. David King Mark McGough Andrew Williams
Leon Davis, Cameron Cloke, Brodie Holland, Ben Kinnear, Matthew Lokan, Steven McKee, Luke Mullins, Luke Shackleton, Rhyce Shaw, Tristen Walker
Brayden Shaw, Heath Shaw missing out.
This is my team for next year, players in bold are more or less untradeable and who I beleive will be cemented in the team come round 1. Anyone not in bold still has something to prove before their an automatic selection.
There's plenty of room for chop and change in the team, and obviously depending on trades and player development this team will change.
This is just a prediction, what are your thoughts?
