I think pies2016 is right
A fast start can be the difference between winning and losing
Personally I would throw a couple magnets around early on
Start Cox in the ruck due to how big he is and how bruising he can be
Start Cameron at FF and tell him stay within 20m of goal
GWS love the ball bombed in long so we need to lower the eyes and hit up players 20-40m out and we need those players to be mobile so checkers and McStay can do that
That leaves Hill Elliott and I would put Nick D there as well while the game is at its hottest and hardest. His smarts around goal and turn of speed will help but also he can do a bit of what Greene does and get it into the midfield then run back
McCreery goes into the middle early days with Mitchell Crisp Lipinski and Pendles. We want only big strong bodies in there early to combat there’s. We need our pressure ranking to be off the chart early and apply maximum pressure around the contests McCreery speed will do that
If we get up on them early there a young side and will likely find it hard to come back
Lastly we need our backs to play tight on there man we can’t be giving them space. GWS rely on space in there forward line so no high presses stay home and defend

From the enemy's afl website, summarized...
'It'll be a great battle': Greene
A rampaging GIANTS side is almost certain to go into Friday's mammoth preliminary final with Collingwood, unchanged.
Injuries
The only injury concern surrounds ruckman Kieren Briggs who hurt his shoulder in the semi-final win over Port Adelaide and while he hardly overextended himself at training, he got through the session without a worry. "He's fine. A bit sore after the weekend but he'll be fine and he'll be there Friday night," captain Toby Greene said on Wednesday.
Could Cox/Cameron test or exploit this injury?
Matchups
We heard it before, the matchup of Daicos and Maynard seems to worry them.
Jump on the GIANTS' bandwagon?
"Get on board. Collingwood have got 15 premierships, we're looking for one," he said.
"There'll be heaps of Collingwood people there but hopefully a fair few GIANTS as well."
Let history show that Collingwood defeated GWS in the 2023 Preliminary Final
and their tally is still zero premierships!

Last match, we snaggled quite a few marks from long bombs!qldmagpie67 wrote:

I'm confident to succeed either way of a good mix of short or long entries, depending on the situation.

More than anything, what cost Port any chance of beating the Giants was them choosing to play underdone, out of form or injured players.
Duursma was almost the Giants best player and not having the ability to roll back into defence on his wing left huge holes for the Giants forwards.
McKenzie, who shouldn’t have played after hobbling off the week before, made Hogan look like Plugger version 2.0
Burton should never play last line again, Greene kicked three on him before the runner could even get out to swap Bergman onto him. Greene didn’t kick any goals on Bergman for three quarters.
Boak battled hard but the long season had already taken its toll. Dixon is still their spirit animal but all that kinda loses its gloss if you can’t still mount a repeat effort when it’s needed. Byrne -Jones, Lycett and Finlayson ( whose tragic story is well documented ) between them hadn’t played any decent footy for around two months.
I’m not saying the above guarantees us victory at all but I can guarantee we will mount a better opposition than the half baked, beaten up Power provided.
To be honest, even pulling up, the Giants should have won by more.

This would stuff up our stable forward structureWoods wrote:Mihocek or McStay being omitted for the inclusion of Noble is not out of the question.
Pies have a need for speed in this game, whereas against Melbourne (when Noble was dropped) the need was big bodied strength.
No chance of happening.

Hardly groundbreaking but likely.

Feels about right too,at the end of the day one player isn't going to win or lose you a preliminary...Nick Diacos is a big in. Why mess with a formula that has for the most part worked for the season. Like I said earlier...if we are good enough...we win ..full stop
