I suspect most of them must really think they have a right to it.
People who are trained in economics and business are not exactly "egalitarian" in their motivations. They're in it for themselves and thus we have, at all levels, some of the highest paid politicians in the world. No idea why people would be shocked or even annoyed by this, for the perks are part and parcel of the pollie. Always has been. I'm far more concerned by how both of the parties refuse to recognize and protect whistleblowers who have been proven right. Instead they use them as an example to anyone else who thinks to shine a light on the worst elements of our society and government. This speaks more to the level of corruption than anything.

They all have Canberraitis. It's a different world there.

All this has exposed is the hypocrisy of the LNP and the self-entitled culture of all Politicians.

https://www.theage.com.au/national/vict ... 5knb6.html

"When the state government sold off VicRoads’ licensing and registration division it promised better service, but government documents show the opposite happened – intentionally.

Budget papers reveal that key VicRoads’ service targets were quietly reduced when it was privatised in a bumper $7.9 billion deal two years ago.

Now, the impact of that is becoming clear: wait times have ballooned, customer satisfaction has plunged and staff say overworked colleagues are quitting in droves and not being replaced.

Staff shortages have forced customer service centres across the state to shut their doors to walk-in customers over the past 12 months, while learner drivers now face waits of up to 10 weeks to sit a driving test."

$7.9b...sounds like a lot of money. Our current debt though ~ roughly 150sh billion with interest rate payment $26 million-a-day. So yeah, good job there boys. What can we sell off next?

How pathetic is Albo and this government.

He wants to restrict social media to those aged over 16, but has no idea how to enforce it. He's asking the social media companies to show they are trying to comply with the new law.

He may as well ask teenagers to self enforce the new law.

It’s a bad idea, and I don’t know why Labor governments are so continually fixated on being net nannies when it seems to blow up in their face every time.

It's not a bad idea in concept, but how the hell do you enforce it?

Meta already had a minimum age of 15 (I think) but all you had to do to sign up at 12 was to bump up your age.

Do we want to force people to use ID to verify their identity to sign up to TikTok and give the Chinese Government access to that info?

Whatever they introduce, it will take some 14 or 15 year old all of 10 minutes to figure out a way around it, or worse Teens collectively will find some other unregulated and potentially more dangerous option.

Someone in the Labor party needs to tell him to get his head into the important stuff.

Don't forget the misinformation bill as well. Who gets to define what "misinformation" is?

Labor and their allies are doing their best to regulate what we can and cannot read. Just an excuse for more tech censorship.

The left is all about trying to control citizens. It was great to see the US revolt against this control.
