Haven’t read the age but I will add to the update from the same mate who has got it right so far every step of the way over the last month.BazBoy wrote:The Agd has it that we have interviewed Brendan Bolton for a role in the McRae coaching team with Leppa close to an interview
There will then be an opening for another to coach stoppages
Leppa is over the line.
Bolton is the interesting one. He wants to follow McRae but Hawthorn want him to stay. Apparently it will come down to Mitchell having a conversation with an assistant who ultimately really doesn’t want to work with him.
Bolton wanted working under Clarkson on his resume and obviously that’s been cut short, so that’s a sticking point.
This one is still up in the air and has a bit to play out.

I’d prefer Bolton stays where he is.Otherwise our coaching panel is becoming Hawthorn centric. How about we seek some diversity of opinion on the coaching panel. Entice Graham over from WCE. He’s 10 years younger than McRae who maybe could be viewed as a long term replacement for McRae. Matthew Boyd is another who should never have left the club. Selwood is a good one to keep and Leppa is a no brainer assuming we come to terms with a contract for him.

McRae - Check
Leppa - pending
Tapping - would be my next priority then
Graham - Then
Astbury - Then
Bolton - interested by this but not my preferred.
I think we need to get whoever it is done quickly - the next biggest priority is head of fitness.

When you hear some of our AFL players (and Brisbane too) discuss Dale Tapping it’s extremely positive
His biggest asset according to those who have spent time around him is his excellent communication skills and building of real relationships
I know Craig has the choice but Covid allowed I’d like eye to eye sit down between both

I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right
Yes, Tapping would be a brilliant mentor and sounding board for the young blokes.MJ23 wrote:McRae - Check

Re the high performance / fitness manager. Keep an eye out for Mathew Hornsby as a name in the mix ( nothing official ). Forget the StKilda connection, internally he was very highly regarded but politics got him in the clean out.

We have hit the jackpot with this guy. Happily optimistic. Prepared to be patient with the due process to bring us ultimate success. Content to wait.
Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. Just because it's dark and stormy now doesn't meant that you aren't headed for glorious sunshine!
