I'm sorry 3rd degree, but all day I have been trying to work out how we are "believing our own bath water". Can you please explain what this means?3rd degree wrote:We dont want it bad enough, we believe our own bath water. You would think that losing by 5 points in the PF last year would have given us some motivation to want to achieve greater things, but unfortunately it has given ourselves a false value of ourselves. As much as I hate to say it Our lads should take a look at Essendon's 2000 team on video for motivation. Because at the moment we are lacking it.

Fair enough, that's your opinion.Neil Appleby wrote:Interesting response ktszyu1 but I can't pull my head in on this one.
Yes, I've seen the raves Didak gets here and yes I have seen his stats.
He was good against Brisbane.
He's talented and at times breathtaking; no doubt.
Best player this year? Not in my opinion; that accolade is Heater's or perhaps Medhurst's.
Maybe a have a blind spot when it comes to Didak; good judges love the guy but I think he is over rated.
I've got my own Copeland voting system going on, and right now I have Didak in the lead on 44 points, Heath second on 41. He has just been brilliant for my liking... but it's subjective I suppose. Though, he was quite poor except for the 4th quarter against the Hawks. Heath was much better, BOG for us.

Steamroller - believing your own bathwater is thinking you are are better than what you are - because if you believe that you your bathwater tastes good -you are dead wrong. We went into the dawks game thinking our bath water tasted pretty good! - we were mistaken.Steamroller wrote:I'm sorry 3rd degree, but all day I have been trying to work out how we are "believing our own bath water". No worries 3rd degree - I am familiar with the saying to "drink ones own bathwater", but believing in it is something I'd not heard of. I'm not sure if our players are in this boat - I though our endeavour on Saturday was good for 3 quarters, but we just seemed to be up against a well-oiled maching playing at their absolute peak. We will improve - wanting it bad enough has never really been an issue for this group of players, I just think too many of them are down on form, which can give the impression that they are not going hard enough. The break will do us good and I expect a real surge starting with the StKilda game.3rd degree wrote:Steamroller - believing your own bathwater is thinking you are are better than what you are - because if you believe that you your bathwater tastes good -you are dead wrong. I don't think the outlook is as grim as most of you are painting. The boys didn't have a great day, but it doesn't mean they can't be a great team.
Does anyone remember that we lost to Brisbane by 90+ points at the 'G' last year? When we lost to Richmond? And Queen's Birthday last year? Terrible heart breaking days. No. Everyone remembers that we came within a kick of Geelong in a Preliminary Final.
In round 20 1990 Hawthorn 26.7.163 d Collingwood 12.8.80...I bet there's a lot of you that think of that game when they remember 1990? No?
...somehow we turned things around after that and didn't lose again that year.
We've had a terrible start this year, but as I heard Mick pointout earlier in the year "the football season is like a marathon, it's not a sprint."
It's not over yet. The boys just have to get really f*cking angry about losses such as last Saturday have some self belief and turn things around.

Is this what it means to believe in our own bathwater? Seems pretty good to me.3rd degree wrote:Steamroller wrote:Steamroller - believing your own bathwater is thinking you are are better than what you are - because if you believe that you your bathwater tastes good -you are dead wrong.
