Jack Higgins, Ryan Byrnes, and Brad Crouch showcased their goal-scoring prowess, netting three goals in just three minutes for the Saints. However, despite their valiant efforts, time ran out for St Kilda.
Collingwood faced an ongoing ruck dilemma, compounded by the early loss of Dan McStay in the second quarter and the late withdrawal of superstar midfielder Jordan De Goey. Nevertheless, the Magpies held their ground and secured the hard-fought win.
The Adelaide Oval witnessed an intense battle, and both teams left it all on the field. Collingwood’s resilience prevailed, handing St Kilda their first defeat of the season.

sorry - I cannot agree with the negative comments on Dean - I thought him one of the positives out of the last few weeks. I'm more upset with Moore taking so long to get going. I think Murphy being out has exposed him. Its not that I think Moore is incapable - just that he doesn't bring it often as we need.
Frampton in for Ash but frankly I think we're better with a small forward line than either Ash or Rief

...Kruger can barely play a practice game without getting injured...and some want to rush him back for a seniors game?
This 22 must live or die by its own efforts.....either they are good enough this year or they are not.
If we are talking about rushing back a player (Kruger) who has managed maybe two whole matches in a row in his time at Collingwood people really are getting desperate!!...at this point he will be lucky to still be on a list come the end of 2024....I am amazed he still is now.

That so called Round zero is a croc of shit. How come the Lions, who played their first match in it, same as us , then round one, same as us , now dont have to play again, until they play us at the Gabba ?? I heard of Fagan say it, " its disappointing to lose to freo, but now we can prepare our next match, v the Magpies, at the Gabba ?". WTF ???? why do we have to play the Saints then, and Lions dont play anyone, till us ?? Its 3 matches in only 12 days, as Swoop Luke pointed out on is blog.!? What, the Collingwood cash cow thing again is it yet again, just bloody unreal.,

Heres my ins and outs.
Ins: McRae (full game too) Carmicheal (remember him) Frampton and TJ (could be Murphys replacement we picked him up in the draft and a nice tall defender and can run and run)
Out: AJ Sidebottom ( time for a rest) WHE (see Sidebottom)
A must win now.
Time those cob webs are surely off by now.
Get to work you keep on saying.
Time to deliver.
What are our estimates on the attendance for this match im going with something like 65k - 70k in this region.

Start Naicos on the half back line to bring in class to set up our offensive drives.
Continue to play Dean until Murphy makes the call. Dean's not the weak link over the past 2 weeks, it's been our experienced defenders.
Take the kick ins off Moore, Howe is a more reliable kick. That then leaves Cameron and Moore as tall targets.
Instruct Maynard not to simply bomb it into 50, he's better when he uses himself to switch play.
Frampton to present as a tall marking target. We were getting picked off too easily, particularly last week. Schultz, Hill and Elliott can then resume normal service.
Having Pendles at the coal face to coach Macrae would seem a logical move.
B: Howe Dean Maynard
HB: IQ Moore Naicos
C: Lipinski JDG Jaicos
Foll: Cameron Macrae Pendlebury
HF: McCreery Mihocek Schultz
F: Hill Frampton Elliott
Int: WHE, Crisp, Sidebottom, McInnes, Noble (SUB)
EMG: Markov Cox Harrison

Ins: Frampton, Noble, McInnes, spirit and pressure
Outs: AJ, Markov, Cox
Allan needs to get a few good games together.
Agree Frampton needs to play forward and be given a license to mark and play positively and give Cameron a pinch in the ruck. Frampton up forward should help Checkers and Reef against the smaller saints defense.
We need Noble to come in for some speed and dare. Gotta be better than the beach bum tripe Markov has tossed up in the first 2 games, that's the attitude, lack of responsibility and play that defines how he got delisted from the Suns. This is his wake up call, drop him for weeks until he comes back with the 2023 huner

Ed Allen kicked our last goal of the year at the 58minute mark of the last quarter

In. Frampton, McInnes, Mitchell, Noble
Out. Dean, Johnson, Sidebottom, Elliott
McRae starts this week
Frampton to fullback
McInnes into the forward line
Noble to the wing to provide run, defensive pressure, better forward 50 entries and much needed speed up and down the ground putting pressure on the ball carrier before they get a chance to bang it inside 50 so much
Mitchell to the bench rotate with McRae
Schulz to replace Elliott in forward line instead of splitting minutes in midfield
Time for coaches to make a statement enough is enough
Go watch the vision on the couch showed last night it’s a revelation on how lazy a veteran players really where

I previously advocated the return of Kreuger, but I now recall he is still a few weeks away from recovering from a hammy.
So, how do we provide some more marking power up forward? I actually think Cox is a far better ruckman than a forward, so I would use him predominantly in that role, with Cameron spending more time up forward. Clearly it's time to promote McInnes. Dean has had a taste of AFL footy, so now needs to go back to the VFL and work on playing tighter.
There's no need to rush Mitchell back. Bring him back for the Lions game. We should win this game. If we don't, we are officially in trouble.
Pies by 18 points.
Outs: Johnson, Dean
Ins: Frampton, McInnes

If we start to refresh ourselfs with some talented kinds its more of the rinse and repeat of last year.
If we refresh i can see us beating the lions at the gabba but first beat saints. Time for a lne in the sand type of game and make a statement this is Flys biggest challenge thus far.
Time we got serious.
