I agree with you BJ! As for Michael Clarke I think he has done enough to earn his spot!

What exactly has Michael Clarke done to earn his spot??

Somebody like Hayden earned his stripes the hard way and now he is flourishing. If you earn your spot you appreciate it more when you are there.

I'll just mention that Clarke scored 69 & 114 against exactly the same attack and on exactly the same wicket as Steve Waugh made 20 & 0 in lasy week's Pura Cup match against W.A.

So you compare him on one game....lol Lucky the tail didnt wag that game or a tail ender may have been replacing Steve Waugh.

Michael Clarke is serving his apprentiship at the moment so to speak. Given time he should develop into a test player. I dont have a problem with him playing if it was maybe at the espense of Lehmann/Love. However to drop the test captain and a champion of the game is insulting. Don't forget in his last test he scored a century Image

Well i mereley was going by the precedent set.

They showed Steve Waughs domestic record. Averages about 53 at a strike rate of about 83. Not bad is it.

But lets face it the Australian selectors are "never wrong" so Waugh has no hope. Deano must know how he feels im sure.

Slats did a pretty good job of that by himself.......lol

The one major difference b/n Steve Waugh, Lehmann, Clarke, Slater, Symonds, Watson etc is that Steve Waugh is a CHAMPION. You don't just dismiss a champion. Champions deserve a lot more respect than that.

Michael Slater at his peak was an entertaining batsman to watch and played positive cricket. However he wasnt a champion.

JLC, Steve Waugh's record for Australia in one-dayers (note: one-dayers) is not particularly good.

He played 325 games but only hit three centuries. He only averaged 32.9 and that was boosted by 58 not outs. As he mostly batted at No.5 his strike rate of 76 is comparitively poor as well.

As a bowler, he went for 4.56 r.p.o. and only took a wicket once in every eight overs.

Compare that to the other players in the team particularly Symonds, Watson, Hogg, Maher, Lehmann.

Please show me Steve Waughs record in the World Cup. I think that will tell a different story
