There are some indications that we are right into him. I feel kinda dirty but Howe and Dunn have proved inspired pickups. He plays like Darcy though, but where our boy plays tall and extends to his height, Watts is more like a Leigh Brown without the heft and grunt. However, a guy like Clement was similarly written off. He's only perceived as soft because of the gang tackling we did to him on his debut night.
Maybe he could turn it all around at the Last Chance Saloon? Or maybe its just a passing fancy by all involved.

I know a guy who like Clement was written off.

I hope it's not true, after the Mayne flop (I admit that at the time I thought he would be an improvement on Blair and as such thought it could work also) we really need to be nailing our trades this year.
Watts won't come cheap and I'm not sure would really add anything to our forward line. I would much prefer a zippy Charlie Cameron or Michael Walters in our forward line.

Pick 6 to Melb for Pick 10 and Watts.
That's the rumour.
Outside the top 4, the top 20 is relatively even. Apparently we're confident we'll get our man at pick 10. But watts? I dunno...

Think we could secure pick 30 from West Coast for Fasolo and ontrade to the Dees for Watts. Dees would take it and to be frank, I would rather have the height and skill of Watts than Fasolo.
What Pies fans have to get their head around is that if we got Watts, he is a second round draft pick not a former number 1. Take those historical expectations away and enjoy his scope.

Watts? Seriously? Only we would be stupid enough to do a deal like that.

Don't like the thoughts re effectively exchanging Watts for Fasolo. Fasolo is more than alright and hasn't peaked yet by any means, still upside in him, worth keeping for sure.

I don't think he's worth our 6 for their 10+him. And yes, only we'd be dumb enough to countenance the idea. Can we just use our first round pick to get a talented mid with speed and good kicking skills.

Haha, are you blokes serious? A four pick downgrade? That would be highway robbery if that was the deal. Genuinely laugh at anyone that thinks that's a bad deal.
No doubt the people who do think it's a bad deal probably haven't seen him play more than two times a year i.e. the games against us (which funnily enough he always does well it)

Another train of thought doing the rounds is that Watts will be part of a three club trade between Melbourne, Adelaide (Lever) and Carlton (Gibbs) with draft picks also involved.

But Mayne
was an improvement on Blair. Four times better in fact. Three times this year Mayne did sweet FA for our side and kept a better, younger player out of the senior side. Blair did that 12 times.

Wouldn't surprise me but Scout posted the info first over on Hotrods and his tips are always spot on. If he says we are talking to Watts, we are talking to Watts.
He did say there's a lot of water to go under the bridge though.

A bridge too far hopefully.
