I would have thought $600k was around the mark for Hurley.

Collingwood seem to do ok with the contract offers.

We might have to offer less money per season, but offer a longer contract.

It appears that at least one of them is making efforts to get gainfully employed in the future:

Sounds around the mark...
But can we fit him within the cap, or would we have to oust Brown?

Then we could sign Mitch Brown for less than his bro and not tell anyone that Nathan was moved out.

Gee Whizzikers!

Its possible his decision to return could be based upon if they make him return his Brownlow.

Id love to see him return to a different club.

Yes. Maybe the New York Cosmos, if that's more convenient for his other plans?

Watson should open a McCafe in Aberfeldie. They will be a hundred deep at lunchtime on dole day.

Word on the street is that another player signing will be announced on Tuesday. If so, I wonder who it will be?

I'll just take a wild stab and say Hibberd will be the next player to sign on.

Been a while since we've heard some news but....

Tom Bellchambers has signed the offered extension to remain at the club until 2018.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-06-10/y ... until-2018

This now leaves:

Michael Hibberd
Ben Howlett
Michael Hurley
Tayte Pears
Brent Stanton
Jobe Watson
SUSPENDED Essendon pair Michael Hibberd and Ben Howlett will wait until later in the year before deciding whether they want to return to the club next season as they mull over their options.

Hibberd would be a good addition if we cannot land Hurley.

Hurley is still the standout player in that current list of players.

True. He's going to get the big bucks too.

My gut feeling is that;

*Michael Hibberd will go for a larger contract and if Essendon don't match it, he'll gladly leave. (Demons sound keen, but I think Essendon will match).

*Ben Howlett will re-sign with Essendon. (Lack of rival interest. Possibly Freo asking the question).

*Michael Hurley will re-sign with Essendon, but will be tempted by huge offers. And they will come thick and fast.

*Tayte Pears will sign for the guaranteed years wage, but has ambitions to retire after 2017. (Essendon want him off the list though, so a payout might also occur).

*Brent Stanton will re-sign after lack of rival interest. Worsfold will not tolerate the stay-puft marshmallow man and will be lucky to play another 5 senior games. (Another that Essendon want gone).

*Jobe Watson will come back.

Sounds like Hibberd is on the way out?

Wouldn't mind offering the big dollars to McDonald-Tipungwuti and/or Laverde.

Both wont leave, but we should still wave the old John Monash in their face.

Kommer is tough as a bag of rusty nails, but his foot skills are.... Well, lets just say he'd get a nice thread dedicated to him after a game or two.
