Never thought I'd say this, but the 30-odd minutes I saw tonight were really well umpired. Players who didn't have a legitimate amount of time to get rid of the ball were not penalised and they allowed some real 1:1 contests between players. Hopefully this augurs well for the rest of the season... or at least until that Kardashian-wannabe Razor Ray gets in front of the cameras again!

The scum look to have improved but by that much?

The tigers looked ordinary for large parts and started last season poorly also.

Hopefully that continues into next week.

My worry about next week's match is that Richmond has a two day extra break than we do.

The second quarter was all GWS. At one stage, the Dees led 33 to 22 but by half-time GWS had kicked the last three goals and had 6 of the last 7 scores to lead 6.8 to 5.4. Heater is starring, with 15 kicks to half-time.

Giants leading 45-34.

Viney 21 disposals for Melbourne. Heater 17 for GWS.

Melbourne very lucky that GWS' kicking for goal has been atrocious. 2 goals, 6 behinds this quarter - GWS lead 62 to 40 - game should be all over, on the run of general play.

Giants by 21 (62 to 41) at three-quarter time.

Giants still leading. 62-53.

Viney (29) and Heater (25) are still racking up disposals.
