swan is the worst disposer of the footy followed by ben k.
two important key midfielders that generate a lot of footy that
put us on the back foot immediately after there classic clangers.

sooner we play to our advantages and not to a turtle and the hare
game plan the better.

Disagree, Swan has actually cleaned his field kicking up a lot IMO, could be that he isn't going for long targets though, but his short kicking is adequate IMO for a player with limited foot skills.

or both?
Apart from Heater, who regularly kicked the ball out of bounds on the full, who are you referring to? Daisy perhaps?....He now struggles to kick more than 40 metres.
Maybe he means the geriatrics, ,Didak and no knees jolly.

I think I'll go with the kids got tired line, but it probably makes too much sense for Nicks!

I agree with Defender that Swan has lifted his disposal efficiency with shorter passes etc - which is why the whole team need to have this option as part of our game plan! I also agree with simon tonna that the 'hare and turtle ball movement is painful and not working and would like to see short passing instead of the turtle...

We need a 'creep sneak and reap game plan' that pushes the ball along and allows our players to keep possession and then sneaky burst aways when space is found to then move the ball quickly into a forward line ready to reap rewards ... :)

Actually I've been banging on about our abysmal kicking for years to little effect, and even before that dark day in June I was pointing out that scores like 8.15 weren't gonna win finals.

So here's my latest solution, I was gonna start a thread about this guy but this is certainly an appropriate place.

Jack Lonie.
A Brilliant small forward for Dandenong, and yes, as the name suggests, he is every bit as good a kick as his cousins Ryan & Nathan. Ive mentioned several times that we should get Ryan back to the club as kicking coach.
In 45 years I've never seen a better or more accurate kick. All of you who are old enough will remember his pick up in the backline and kick from 70 out after a few bounces.
We might be able to pick him up with 30 if we're lucky. Wed be nuts to overlook this kid.
I know our disposal problems are 90% mental, but technique would help.

I think Swanny can be a bit hit and miss but would allow BenKen a bit of time. Kid had major surgery to both his legs preseason this year. Has impacted his tank and I'd hazard a guess that it has also impacted his kicking.

Really? Where were you in 2002-2010? The side running around in the black and white stripes during those years was a shocker. The difference to today's side is that we now have one or two extra players who are noted good kicks, and that makes the others look even worse.

Nevertheless, your point stands: we really, really need to improve our field kicking and our goal kicking. Both are woeful.

with Ben's psychical limitations i.e. height i would expect he's disposal
would be of a very high standard otherwise why would you pick him up
in a preseason draft? surgery aside his kicking lacks accountability and coming off his first year it was his only flaw as a first year player and i suspect it came from jamming it onto the boot rather than seeking a
team mate with time in possession. other than that as a fan I'm willing
to give him the time he needs to develop as the coaching staff are as well.

as for Swanny. if he can take out of his game sub 3m sideway passing attempts were half way there with him. great long kick and a sure shot for
goal. kiss.

We must be thinking of a different Swan.
