Would be nice to have some luxury I reckon. Just imagine him floating around in the twos until he decides to turn it on! We may need an x factor one day.
Healthy competition makes for a desperate team, we were missing that last year due to injuries, it could happen again. I guess it depends on who we are trying to develop and who we would drop for him because we actually do have a talented list, chok full of talent. Probably the bottom 6 on our list are already decided, could there be a bottom 7 or 8?
If we keep Williams and Mooney on the rookie list for one more year it could open up a spot..........

Did he not play at Port because he wasn't good enough to get a game or was it because they'd decided to give their kids more game time? A player Rodan's size is not structurally important in the way that, say, a seasoned ruck or key position player is.neil wrote:5 knee recos and people want him?
Cannot get a regular game at Port and people want him?
Just because a player is available does not mean we should go after him.
That question asked, I see that he played the last 4 AFL games of the 2012 season in a row - perhaps the Port football department wanted to see a bit more from him in order to make a final decision and, when they did, he was found wanting?

But would he be better than Elliot Krak Blair Didak? The other small forwards.Invigoration wrote:If we don't get Young I'd definitely put him through a medical and reassess after that. He is worth a sniff, would be miles better up front next year than Sinclair.
Could add in Sidey as well plus whoever we get in the draft

Rodan: absolutely not.
I'd give Brendan Fevola an opportunity though. For $50,000 a season (maybe $100k) and the proviso he get his fitness to an appropriate level, not drink over the course of the AFL season and understanding he'd have to earn his spot in the side.
It interesting where we've got to. People would prefer good characters over good footballers. Of course Rodan is a more respected character but his body is battered and broken and he's best is not great.
Fevola will still take marks and kick (a lot of) goals, and he'd still be more effective than Dawes.
Good personalities don't win you flags... good footballers do.
Wayne Carey and Michael Voss come to mind: both had poor character, but they COULD play football.

Yes, maybe, yes and maybe. I picked out Sinclair specifically though because that is the type of player that Rodan would push out of the team. Rodan still has a bit of toe and he is classy, he'd be an instant upgrade on Sinclair who we deemed worthy of 20 games this year. Apart from Blairy who plays a big chunk in the midfield these days, none of those blokes mentioned are quick, defensive forwards, they are actually all quite slow.neil wrote:But would he be better than Elliot Krak Blair Didak? It would all depend on a medical though. Purely as a player he'd be a good get for a team on the cusp of a premiership, but if the queries on his body remain than you'd put a line through him.

Has not had an impact for the Demons.
Wonder why they went for him? Still thought a better team could have done with him throughout the year, but it looks as tho his career will be ending in 5 weeks.
As far as Collingwood goes, yeah he had no chance of getting a game here with Blair, Elliot, Dwyer, Krakouer, Martin and even Didak infront of him.
No fairytale for Rodan sadly.
