Snap! What an effort. Looks like some depth players are really pressing in the magoos over the last month.

Couldn't go, but watched it all on TV - very impressed. Obviously, as Phil Cleary said on the ABC, the Opposition wasn't up too much because Melbourne selfishly didn't make all their elligible players available, but our boys were still tremendous.

Some comments.

Let's hope the right combination was selected tomorrow because Dick and Wood both played well and presumably would also have tomorrow.

Jarryd Blair and John Bennell must be elevated from the Rookie list for next season.

Danny Stanley and Ryan Cook may not be AFL players but they are wonderful VFL players, I am glad I'm not the person who has to decide which players are cut from the list or traded at the end of the year.

Ben Reid is going to be a fine defender, I'm not sure that Lachlan Keefe is but presumably the club sees him as a ruckman over the long term.

Barham and McCaffer may be behind a lot of others for a place in the Firsts but both have shown enough in their approach to the game that they should be kept on list even if they spend all of 2010 in the Magoos. In the next few years, when draft concessions to the Gold Coast and West Sydney make good draft choices hard to get for the rest of the AFL, Collingwood will be glad to have players like Barham and McCaffer on our list.

Chris Dawes might not yet equal Rocca as a huge forward or Leroy Brown as a pitch hitting ruckman but he will be better than both of them in those positions given time.

Whatever caused Marty Clarke's loss of form mid season still seems to be having an effect. I thought that he was one of our few ordinary players today.

Collingwood Seconds are a really good idea. We would not have got this level of satisfaction out of a Williamstown victory!

Go (seconds) Pies!!!

Before someone asks "a pitch hitting ruckman" is a pinch hitting ruckman. A pitch hitting ruckman would be Justin Charles, who used to play baseball in the summer.
