Good win Pies, looked pretty flat all night but always had their measure.
I liked the way we went on with it after being challenged in the last quarter. I was a little worried with about 10 mins to go but the boys steadied and were too good

Considering we got slaughtered in ruck clearances, the Shaw brothers both had poor nights, Richards was in the side and some totally BS umpiring it was amazing that we ended up winning so well.

Travis played well, A.Rocca couldnt kick a goal to save his own life tonight and Tarks played one of his best games ever (19 marks)

We couldn't buy a centre clearance, it was depressing. We won it off the rebound, even without Clement.

The commentators were going on about how Collingwood were "consumate professionals" throughout the whole game, keeping themselves together....... but I was very unimpressed by a lot of what we did. Too many errors, a bit of laziness from some, frustrating to watch at times, and it's not like Brisbane are good enough to be pushing us into those errors. And what was with Maxy letting their newbie get 3 goals on him....

Very glad for the win however, stuck it to them on their home ground, and we play them again this year, but at the G, looking forward to dishing out a thrashing.

Why did Thomas only fire up after that dodgy (very very dodgy) free kick payed to Brown against him, in the last quarter? Why not be that fiery during the whole match? Show the passion...

Great work by the teams backbone.. Lockyer, Burns.
Smooth work by Pendlebury. Looking solid for the Rising Star.
Cloke worked hard.
Rhyce Shaw ran hard for us, did well.
Good work from Didak not to rise to Copelands pathetic taunting.

Thats called winning ugly. Kind of defies 'football sense' that you can get smashed in the middle, not control the corridor at an stage and beat your opponent by 5 goals.

Bar those listed below in my best I thought we had few standout players. Meddy, Richards, OBrien, Maxy, Toovey, Goldsack, OBree, Richards, Holland, Thomas and Didak (up until 3/4 time) were all ave. Maxy had his pants pulled down but MM change worked. Some would say I am being harsh on Holland and OBree who did do good things but they afforded Black and Power a free night.

Thought MM was either outcoached or the players werent listening. Every goal to half time was around the wings. They could not go up the middle and when they did start kicking there we got a couple (eg Swan).

Richards is simply not up to it based on that form and is feeble in the contest.

What worked for us was our work rate and our ability to not allow ourselves to be overrun. Not a good game to watch as I thought we made a lot errors. Still we won and we can play better.

Comments on a few players;

Fraser - very good.

Richards - very ordinary. He just cannot win a contest.

Rocca - tried hard but missed a lot of shots. Certianly provided a target and work rate late was good.

Swan - Ok without being one of his best. Probably got 20 touches but wasnt a big influencer on game. Nice goal that turned the tide though.

Davis - 3 goals but for me a pretty lazy effort. Some of his fwd pressure left a lot to be desired.

Holland - Not flash. Spent a lot of time trying to follow Power without much success. Did help at the contests though.

Mr Burns - You are a legend and are just getting better and better.

Meddy - Ordinary. Bit flashy at times. Did one or two nice things.

Didak - quiet night but stepped up in the last to help win the game.

R.Shaw - ok without being great. when he ran it made a difference. He could not get the run back thru CHB to straighten us up.

H.Shaw - As per his brother. Opp teams are not letting them take us thru the middle. Will hurt us if we cannot do against better sides.

presti - I liked his game. Thought he battled hard and did not give Brown much and then quietened Clark.

Obree - fair bit of footy but he plays loose and it hurt us at times. Good goal late and a couple of great passes.

Lockyer - Read Mr Burns. Good hard running.

Thomas - love how he can be ordinary and then do something special when the game is up for grabs.

Toovey - I like his work rate but he is not a 'one touch player' and he pays for it.

Maxy - Not a very good night for him. Was led to the ball to often but like Thomas stepped up when he needed to. Love that in footballers - the ability to turn your game around late when the club needs it.

Goldsack - certainly has something - just not sure what yet.

OBrien - Like Maxy did not have a good game but kept at it. Strong on his feet which is good.

Cloke - Some of you that wanted him in the 2's a few weeks ago should just hang your heads.

Pendlebury - Wow! We got our new Buckley. Imagine when his legs and upper body gets stronger.

Johnson - good to see him back.

Best for us: Lockyer, Pendlebury, Cloke, Fraser, Burns, Prestigiacomo, Johnson

Next week:

In - Clement / Buckley / Bryan
OUt - Goldsack / Toovey / Richards

Like to somehow fit Dick in to.

super win, ripper. But bloody hell we need to sharpen up the centre clearances and stoppages. Cloke awesome, so too Pendles, Tarks, Burnsy, Johnson and Swan.

Team review - R.9 v Brisbane

Scott Burns: 3 votes in my book. As hard at the ball as ever, almost ridiculously courageous, and even snared a couple of goals.
Travis Cloke: He's really coming of age. Kicked straight tonight, 2 big goals, and marked everything that came near him. Best game of season.
Leon Davis: Played the opportunist forward role to perfection. 4 kicks for 3 goals. One of them was breathtaking (around the body on an obtuse angle).
Alan Didak: Quiet by his usual standards, but kicked truly when he needed too. In a forward line like ours, we need that.
Josh Fraser: Decent game. Did some good things.
Tyson Goldsack: Not a whole lot of the ball, but seems to be comfortable in defense. Should be kept in the side, he'll have more of an impact as he develops.
Brodie Holland: Best game since his return. Still not playing at 100%, but showed some guts at crucial stages.
Ben Johnson: Fantastic. Set up plenty of goals, before kicking the sealer. Great to see him playing well again.
Tarkyn Lockyer: Continued his great season, an incredible 32 touches and 19 marks.
Nick Maxwell: beaten a few times by Clark, but otherwise was great. Generally got the better of his opponent in most contests, always there with the defensive punch. Like the look of him at the moment.
Paul Medhurst: Quiet game on return. Probably had his biggest impact early on, then disappeared a little. Still, some moments of skill showed why we need him back so much.
Shane O'Bree: Really good game... and how about that goal :D One of many midfielders to stand up for us tonight.
Harry O'Brien: Perhaps not as influential tonight, but stood his ground in defence. Very reliable.
Scott Pendlebury: Pure class. Another future star here.
Simon Prestigiacomo: 3 possessions... classic Presti. Took the points on Brown, which is no mean feat.
Guy Richards: Might cop some flak here, but I think he showed enough to be kept in next week. Didn't exactly inspire in the ruck contests, but I liked his efforts on the ball around the ground. Doesn't actually mind a physical contest.
Anthony Rocca: Wasteful in front of goal (0.4 and several other missed shots), but his marking is beautiful to watch. Needs to learn from Cloke's example, when it comes to kicking straight.
Heath Shaw: Barely seen, bar a mark of the week contender in defence.
Rhyce Shaw: Quiet, but used it well. Serviceable.
Dane Swan: Showed up now and then and did some good things. Liked his effort in the last quarter especially.
Dale Thomas: Did the things he does best: attacking the ball with courage and disposing of it beautifully. Will have better games than this, but didn't have his colours lowered.
Alan Toovey: For the first time this season, I wasn't totally convinced. Love watching him come over the top in hitouts, though. Solid, not a bad game at all.

Sorry guys can't be objective as in my opinion I just witnessed the greatest win by Collingwood against Brisbane. Why??
CAUSE I WAS AT THE GAME!!!
Joffa u are a legend the winners circle in the Goal square at the end of the game was awesome.

We have waited 11 years to beat the lions up here. Great win by the boys.

GO PIES!!!!
All this may be summed up in one word - CHARACTER - and if that is not worth developing, nothing is.

That was magnificent!

There must have been 10,000 Collingwood supporters there. The noise behind the goals after the match was awesome.

I love Collingwood.

What a night. Orgasmic pleasure.
