Impossible to judge the team given the inexperience.

My main worry however, was our continuing weakness in the ruck. I thought Richards was ineffective, and Bryan only slightly better. Obviously this situation will improve with Josh back in the side, but if we're to push up the ladder we need Richards to stand up in the centre. Rusling was disappointing, and our game plan was far too stop/start, but hopefully this was caused by our inexperience.

As for the positives, I thought Pendlebury was fantastic, and will be a fabulous on-baller for us this year. Brown got a bit of the ball early and looks like he'll be a good pick up for us. Nicholls showed plenty of grit and a touch of class, and in the last quarter I was surprized at the contribution of young Cooke - he actually reminded me of Pendlebury.

Overall, who knows? Let's hold our judgement until we see a close to full strength side on the park.

Ok you find the part where I said it was a top effort, it wasn't we were poor, but there are many reasons as to why that is the case.

I have high expectations too, during the REAL season.

And dont give me the "I'm older than you crap" it's very tired and past it's used by date as a retort.

Nicholls - good effort, like the attack.
pendlebury - looking the goods. pure class
Daisy - ditto
Medhurst - great attack on the ball and man. great pick up
Bryan - can't jump, can't ruck.
Dick - vey promising
Brown - very promising if he learns how to kick
Wakelin - i apologise. very good effort
Harry - lousy haircut, hope the ribs are OK
Sir Scott - you are still the man
Rusling - watch how medhurst attacks the ball and have a go you puss.
Travis - pass just. effort OK.
maxwell - great effort every time
leon - great to see you back

Overall, very disappointing first half, much better effort in the second.

Good sides always give 100% Bazdaddy no matter who is playing.

Your post reeks of what we need to remove from our club. Maybe it is you who should consider doing a ghosty this year rather than telling others.

It is always important to show some effort in the preseason cup whether you want to win or lose the comp. Losing like that is never beneficial for anyone especially the kids.

Fellas in patches in the second half the kids worked really well together. I can pluck out 1 player who was ordinary and i'm not gonna bring it up, but we had good signs from a lot of boys who were only getting their first real taste. And the second year players were very promising.

Thomas was very good once going
Pendlebury was super as he was always going to be. You cannot teach that awareness.
Nicholls added bite around the stopages, and got those all important quick kicks forward.
And Iles had patches. He needs more development and will get it.

Dick showed promise. With more confidence he will take blokes on.
Brown showed nerves and so he should. He is a contest player against fully developed men.

And then Travis presented nicely in the 2nd half which was important to see.

And Ben Johnson handled the leadership role very well. The scoreboard mean absolutely 0 tonight. They will now get there chance to run some game time into the legs of Clement, Fraser, Buckley and so on on the practise match route.

Albow Rhyce made many fumbly bumbly typical him mistakes. September him mistakes. I like his endevour and heart, but his execution too often is like an Iraqi death sentence. Sloppy and not for general exhibition.

Ok Im not happy that we took the attitude into the game that we did
there are probably nine other players who didnt play that would make us better..dont understand that to that extent
not happy with first half it was disgraceful..as a club we should always be flying the flag
not sure what the benefit is of exposing our newbies to that beating
second half was better and more like what i expect
The highlights for me were pendles and Dick.
Ruck is still a problem!

How many Pre season cups did Brisbane win in their era Big T?

Im sorry I'm finding this hard to gauge because I'm not fussed about a game with no meaning I shouldn't bother going.

Because I'm still supporting the club positively after this unimportant game I shouldn't bother going?

Na dam right great logic.

No, he does those kind of fumbles in September, hence September him mistakes, not just Home & Away him mistakes.

I had no expectation of winning and thought we'd get done like a dinner. North fronted with virtually their best side because they want to make some money out of this pre-season cup. Good luck to 'em.

When we put Buckley, Jimmy, Fraser, O'Bree, Presti, Rocca and Swan into the first round side, we'll look vastly different to the mob which ran out tonight. Add Dids when he overcomes his knee injury and Dutch when he serves his suspension and tonight will become a bad memory. We'll beat North in the real thing. It's still going to be a long season, though. They are, after all, the wooden spoon favourites.

A general comment I could make is that whilst some of the kids did some nice things, they are very, very raw (as you'd expect), so we need to be patient and give them the 3 years or so they truly need to mature. Dick and Brown, especially, showed talent but equally their rawness.

On a very positive note, write Pendles and Ryan Cook down as almost dead-set certainties for a spot in the first round of the real thing. I love what Pendles can do; he makes so much space it's not funny. Great disposal, too. Since I haven't been able to watch Williamstown play, I haven't seen Cookie before but, by gee, this kid has got what it takes. Big things to come from Cookie in 2007.

Medhurst is going to be a very good pickup for us. By crikey, I like the way he goes for the ball. No standing around pushing, shoving and then moaning about not getting a free kick like someone sent somewhere else over summer. Egan is starting to show his undoubted talent more consistently and Maxy is a dead-set leader of men. Heater showed his usual "take no prisoners" attitude and just needs the rocks of Presti and Jimmy around him to release him to run more freely. The core regular senior players all looked pretty good to me.

On the downside, Richards should be charged with taking money under false pretences. I couldn't understand why he was given another season on the list; he's done bugger all since we picked him up in 2000 and he ain't gunna do a thing this season either. I'll reserve judgement on Bryan who at least showed a willingness to mix it, go for the ball and use his weight. I doubt he's a top tap ruckman, but. Maybe a nice backup to Fraser but that will probably be it.

Final note - I tust Harry is OK. Comments made by Walshie at halftime and after the match said that the scans were a precaution only. Still, we haven't got much depth, so we don't need any more injuries before the bloody season starts!
