You can just tell that we were gonna lose when Rocca and Tarrant are off the ground.

Speaking of Royal Commissions, there definitely should be one over the quality (i use the term loosely) of the umpiring tonight. Tonight i saw it all. Brisbane being rewarded for diving in ruck contests or one on ones, throwing the ball to teammates who score goals, and hitting posts (with the goal umpire right underneath it too). Bloody disgraceful!

We played hard, and played well, after that, where did they go? Lokan, Johno, and Burns all had good games for the Pies, Buckley was okay, injuries hurt us badly towards the end of the game. I hope Wakelin's jaw isn't that bad, from what I have heard he might miss some games. Tarrant should be able to get up for the next game, so should Clemo.

I was at the game and for the first quarter and a half, the Bears were panicking - but from there on it all went downhill.

But it is only round three.

Chin up people - things will only get better from here.

Both played reasonable games tonight, I hope both can get some more games. They look like they might be 2 good players for the Pies.

That wasn't even close to being the worst performance by a Collingwood side.

Try last year's match against Hawthorn ... now THAT was a stinker :x

But there is a monotonous similarity in most of our games against Brisbane these days.

They just seem to have the wood on us.

We might have to hope that someone else can knock them out of business for us, if we are to have a serious crack at a premiership ...

... maybe even the much maligned Port Adelaide

They don't seem to take a backward step against Brisbane. They've already done us the favour of putting Essendon on the bottom of the ladder. Maybe they'll really make themselves REALLY useful and knock Brisbane out of the finals for us come September.

Stranger things have happened.

Just got back from the game. Had to put up with typical asshole Lions all night, what an ignorant bunch of pricks they are. Every year is the same, only they keep getting more arrogant. There time well come.

First half was the best footy we have played this year, second half ran out of puff, just didn't have the legs or the bodies to match as per normal. But as a few have pointed out, Swan was very impressive, lokan looks to be finding his place, Richards I thought was very good, there are some good youngsters coming through.

Richard Cole is really struggling, Lonie couldn't back up a good performance from last week, Lions backline was superb in the second half. Umpiring was bewildering all night, I had no idea what was going on. Richards was very stiff in the ruck. We blew our chances early and that was always going to cost us. But I think personally there were some real positives and really with a 5 day break and poor preseason the result was very predictable.

But why Lynch was allowed to lead so easily without anyone dropping back and helping Presti out was so bloody frustrating. Not like the Pies of the past 2 years - no one helping out, would love to have seen Cloke playing the loose man and spoiling as well as he did 2 years ago. Bit disappointed a few of the boys pulled out of contests and noone was willing to drop into the hole in the forward line. But it is round 3, win against Freo and we are 2-2 with much better footy to come (and another 18 games!). To the wanker in bay 51 seat VV450, I'm sure the bandwagon will turf you in good time, like the rest of them that have to actually read the words to their own club song after the game on the big scoreboard. What a joke.

Lynch should get 2 weeks at least! What a fkn dickhead! I hate him!!!!!!

And that Jonathan Brown thinks he is top s**t. He basically waltzes around the ground and when he gets a mark or a kick he puffs out his chest like he is their god! What a wanker!!!!!
Lynch is a Champion...irrespective of anything.... 35 years old and kicks 7 goals.....you just gotta respect that !!

Jonathan Brown...he probably has every right to think he's top s**t ...I mean the guy backs it up with his performance. As a player this guy has few weaknesses if any. He's the type of bloke who plays well in any position.

Brisbane are the benchmark and the most successful AFL side getting around ....lets not forget that, but nothing stays the same for ever, Try and get Leigh Matthews back at Collingwood.....now that could work.

God, that was just bloody horrible. Lose Tarrant, lose Wakelin, Pies lose. Sure, we weren't getting any help from the umps and the Lions are classy, but look back also to the GF without Rocca. Yes, most sides struggle without their key position players, but we just seem to go to pieces.

On the positive side, as Alf has pointed out, no, I didn't expect much different. I also was greatly encouraged by a couple of performances. I wouldn't say Swanny has oodles of class, but he showed poise and plenty of courage. Richards easily won us those first few clearances. And Lokan - well, frankly I didn't think he would cut it in his second year. Best game I've ever seen from him, well done.

Nixon invisible again. Too early to cast judgement but certainly looks a bit lost in his first couple of games. Might as well have started with 21.

POSITIVES

-Lokan could be a smokey up foward
-Swan played well but lets see how consistent he will be
-Richards rucked well and got posessions and hit outs around the ground could be the end of Mckee
- Shaws effort in the 3rd or 4th qtr when he took on 2 bris. opponents
- Wakes held the backline

NEGATIVES
-Everyone in the backline got beaten except for wakes
- Our 2nd tier players went missing
- Skill level is still poor especially general kicking bucks would be the only one who can deliver it consistantly
- Didnt take our chances early could have blown them away

CONCERNS
- Tarrants hamstring i reckon he twinged it the week before against dogs
late in the game I would like him to have a week off hate to see him play next week and ping it and out for 3-6 weeks

-Rocca knee is still sore from last week as well hopefully the long break can heal it if not its going to heal it will be an big ask for him to see out the season

-obviously we plan around rocca and taz we need a back-up plan if these guys arent there. We were showed up when they went off

-Skill level is still not good enough brisbane are more precise with there movement

- Is brisbane freward line 10 goals better with lynch and brown in the side? brown 3 goals lynch 7 goal and with no pre-season games up there sleeves

INTERESTING TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS

- will lynch get cited for striking wakelin

- will white get cited for kicking lokan

- will not sure which brisbane player it was striking lokan to face
after taking mark up foward

-What will happen to cloke, lonie, shaw at next weeks selection

Yes, Nixon looked totally out of his depth, but its a tough call whether to drop him or not - he's one of those players who seems tough enough to work out what he needs to do. Worth giving him a few more games I think.

Please bring McGough back, give the kid a chance.

We were never going to win, some umpiring decisions were just shocking. Physically and mentally beaten before we ran onto the ground.
4 injured on the bench does not help.

It's round 3, have to win next week without Rocca, Taz it looks like.

It's not over yet there are 22 rounds, it's bloody hard to win up there so I am not to fussed.

Pretty unlucky getting Taz out injured, hope it doesn't become a chronic hammie thing. Then the other injuries and sounds like Wakelin was thugged. Haefvn't seen the game listened to the call, I could visualize arrogant prick Bears getting thuggish when they were getting beaten and getting away with it as usual, as if they dont' have enough advantage.
So Ho hum, sounded like a proffessionally tough approach by the collingwood team, no special physicallity even when thuggery from Bears started, how boring! At least from all reports they didn't get so intimidated like before which is a mild improvement - big deal.
I was expecting an epically emotional game with players regarding the game as "trial by fire" as someone said, and an opportunity for revenge. but not to be, yawn. Team seems to accept thuggish tactics and not retaliate at all. I wonder if it would have been different if Burns had been captain, Sheedy coach?
Looks like a slow and professional improvement, putting us in genuine contention next year at the earliest.
Also the coaching tactics, apart from Lokan forward (not exactly inspirational since that is his background) seemed stodgy and predictable as usual, no inspiration from that side of things.
My concern this year now shifts to who will stop the "Lyin" bastards this year from getting their 4 in a row AFL gift. Can't see it being Collingwood so I now hope we *don't* make the grannie. the only hope may be port, Sydney and maybe St Kilda. Anyone but Brisbane, I never hated a side so much.

Was this a repeat performance of Easter 2003? Go with the Lions for a quarter and a half and then roll over and die!

Collingwood are weeks away from playing with any discernable system. Not enough depth, not enough recruitment, not enough hard bodies, not enough stamina, not enough willingness to ride the bumps and come out with the ball.

It's obvious after three games that our team:
1. has lapsed into a one-dimensional gameplan.
2. doesn't have the players to nullify Brisbane.
3. has holes all over the ground and Brisbane buried us in them.
4. can't string enough possessions to threaten a quality opposition.
5. doesn't react to obvious weaknesses in our tactics.

That performance was embarrassing. There are at least half a dozen regular players who would benefit from a spell in the reserves and time to contemplate whether they really want to play at the top level. We have too many passengers in the team, and we have nothing in reserve to replace them.

There's no point hiding it: Brisbane make us look soft - physically and mentally.
GO MAGPIES !!!
