He seems the most likely replacement for Adams midfield role.

In his last game he came off the Sub and got 8 tackles, highest on the ground, McRae would have loved that.

There's a few guys in the 30+ bracket that will be hard to replace in coming years.

But we have the flag and can do it again, so lets keep going and hope new draftees can step up in years to come.

^ It's deeply concerning - I don't think Pendlebury and Sidebottom can be expected to play on for more than 5 or 6 more seasons each.

That means Pendles will be 42 when he retires? No way
There's 1 or 2 seasons left in him, provided we keep getting in the top 4 and maybe winning more flags.

All teams go through cycles, let's accept that.

I guess it’s a testament to their greatness that you thought I was serious.

Yep 2027 still mightly good line up even when it getting to 2027 and 2028 lets say.
Out of the out ones ill still have Crisp and maybe Checkers in the still hanging in group say in 2027.
Crisp last years be around 2027.
To be honest we have the line up and players list to dominate the AFL until at least 2028 so for the next 5-6 years.
If we win flag in 2024 i think we can make a three peat ala brisbane and hawks.

I think its time to start managing a few players out, in terms of giving younger players like Allen and McInnes a start...the oldies should be played sporadically, and may well have something to offer come September.

Assume the worst and we start 0 - 6 and are effectively out of the finals race. Do we go full rebuild? Does Pendles get to 400?

The club will continue to play the best 22 available for a while to come yet ( as they should )
We will either turn it round along the way in 2024 or we won’t but either way, there is an inevitability about where we’re headed. IF we don’t improve dramatically this year, at some point the club will decide if there’s more long term gain in trying the kids rather than flogging perceived dead horses who can’t give anymore. All that is still fair way off, given that we’re only in mid March and finals are in Sept.
The other problem with our ageing stars is that a number of them are quality leaders who arent easily replaced. One of them in particular, is a generational leader and player. In our case, the issue is a double edged sword.
