..."And despite what the hitouts stats show, we just shaded the Weagles on centre clearances, simply because Fanning made every centre bounce a contest and gave our mids every opportunity to take the ball away. His second efforts were astonishing for a bloke of his size. When Fanning was rucking, we dominated......

    Go 'Pies

When Fanning was off the ground in the 3rd quarter, Weagles hit the front. He just gives the team another option, and drags away a tall from the other side. I just wish the umpires would just throw up, then we could really judge Fanning's performance!!!!

I thought Egan was wagging the finger ala Magic Davis to the Eagles supporters. Looking at that picture, I think he can expect a fine.

The best effort I have seen by the Pies this year and after hearing MM's press conference it would appear that some of the closed door meetings with the board members is starting to pay off.

MM was fantastic in the press conference and the Pies will finish the 2005 year very well and that will position them very nicely for 2006.

They do need to change the player raod map a touch though.

MM has always rated Fanning higher than Richards and now it is very clear to see why. He has the body size and spring to match it with anyone and now he is getting tha ball around the ground. Stretch is the better palming ruckman but now he will have more time to develop after some of the medical setbacks of the last 2-3 years.

Egan's play will make Magic's play harder and do the team oriented things that he currently does not display.

C3 is the best thing to happen to the Pies since Pebbles joined from the Swans. This kid is a real match winner and with him on the ground with a fit Josh we will have very talls who are extremely mobile, good below their knees and can kick goals. C3 is physically bigger than Josh and the Pies can keep the $1 million phoney target money for J.Brown and we have got a better player in C3.

Dids got better the longer the game went but I was worried in the 3rd quarter when he spilled the sitter in the goal square and it went up the other end for Matera and a 12 point turn around. But Dids correctly stood up in the last quarter and roasted Chickadee royally.

Obree stood up in the last half and actually appears to be finding some form.

Tarks was good and held the ball if there were no options up field un like Lica who needs better field vision.

The backline - Jimmy, Presti and Wakes were unbeliveable and with all this years games have been our Rocks in defense.

Hats off to ya Cannibal - I'm guilty as charged.

4 points and a gutsy win has reminded us all how good it feels to have a win like that and how much longer this season has to go. I came home from the footy with absolutely no voice for the first time in a while. I think the tanking talk will be off the agenda now.

How good is Pies vs Hawks at the 'G' looking all of a sudden - Match of the day.

Yep same,... my voice still isn't 100%!
Very well played by the team as a whole - Have to be happy with that - I actually think i enjoyed it more than the Carlton win,... did i just say that?!?!?!

- Will Tarrant ever get a free kick?
- Fanning is doing a sterling job under the circumstances!
- Carra's 5 goals were great but he probably could've done better as harsh as that may sound to some
- The Clokes are very exciting prospects
- Cox can definitely play

O'bree is an outside receiver and always looks half decent in a winning team. This guy will not win the Pies a flag. Next hard ball get will be his first. Gets so many tackles because he sweats on honest footballers attacking the footy rather than getting in to get it himself. GET RID OF HIM!

Lets say they have to choose 5 to delist (meaning 4 or 5 picks in the top 50 at ND). Possibly more given they will want to promote Davies and Fanning from the rookie list (if not more). I suspect they will want to create 7 spots.

I suspect Lokan and Williams are there already. It then comes down to a whole raft of senior players who may or may not attract a trade like Obree, Lonie, Woey, Walker. Or will they cut some of the young kids who are taking time to develop eg Shaw boys, Morrison, Hall, King.

If you assume 7 then I would think at this stage it looks like, Morrison, Hall, King, Obree, Williams, Lokan and King. I would hope Hall would get redrafted onto rookie list and possibly Morrison as well.
Of the Rookies, Fanning and Leonard will have to be promoted or delisted at the end of the season, Davies and O'brien can be retained for another season.

Of the others, Lokan, Williams, King, Swan, O'bree and C Morrison should be very concerned about what they will be doing next year. Walker, Lockyer, Lonie and Woey are perilously close.

B Morrison, Hall, and the Shaws will all be retained.

Also need to consider that Wakes, Burnsy, and Bucks are all approaching retirement. If not this year then it's not far away.

More in and under then an outsider. He isn't the sort of player to win us a flag, more a support player.

I have only just stopped celebrating. Thats the Collingwood side I knew that was just a sleeping giant. They are now awake and here we come.
Actually it was quite funny yesterday. I spoke to a couple of Weagles Supporters and they were absolutely adament that the only reason why the Weagles lost was because of the umpiring. Would not cop it that they were actually beaten by a dominent opposition who after 9 dissapointing rounds, went out there with the belief and the heart that they could knock off the ladder leaders. I could not be a prouder supporter. To all the knockers, this is why we support our club. This is what we have been waiting for and the wait was worth it. Bring on the Hawks!!!!!!!

Thanks to the Hawks for beating Freo, we are now only two games out from the 8. We'll repay you next Saturday.
