This is a really good point Dave. We probably could have been 3, 4 goals up early in the third quarter if we'd made the most of our chances. Whether that would have changed the result, who knows. It might well have knocked the wind out of Richmond's sails.

If you watch the last ten minutes of the second quarter again, specifically, Richmond seem to lose all confidence... we get some breaks, kick some quick goals, and are running over the top of them... just not being able to convert on the scoreboard. For a while, the Tigers were actually playing like the worst team in the comp (which I think had a lot to do with a lift in intensity from our players in that period)

It all goes to show how important momentum can be, and more so, capitalising on it. Something we failed to do last night.

Dave a great point. If we kick one more goal at the time, maybe the game is blown wide open and Richmond don't come bakc. 5 or 6 set shots from 30 metres is our archilles heel.

That Medhurst finally pulled his finger out was the only one I can think of.

In theory, if we had've kicked those 5 sitters, and everything else remained the same, we would have won by 5 points.

Who said bad kicking wasn't going to cost us?

More like 5 goals. The momentum swing would have crushed the Tiger's spirit, in the same way the Dogs crushed ours earlier in the year at Telstra Dome. We let them back into the game.

Many have said our finishing would cost us this year.

This is when Toovey was on the BENCH He managed to come back on for the last 4 minutes and we missed 3 goals...I think I will just continue to blame him....

But, didn't we also kick 3 quick goals whilst Josh was on the pine?

I think it was about the same time we got in front.

Its true though, the eventual winning margin would have been covered had we kicked those gimme's and it would have certainly broken the tigers.

Shits me up the wall that one of the most innaccurate teams in the comp kicked 14-4 after they were 4-4 halfway thru the first quarter.[/url]

Top post, Anthony, well said.

But people are ripping in to Tooves. There's something to work with, surely.

Anyone else noticed that Medhurst goes to ground too often?

Had the opportunity of putting them away early in the 3rd qtr but 4 easy misses on goal in succession hurt us very very badly.

So far it has been a round of upsets really and for some reason I just thought that this was a danger game for us, or it could have been anyone, Richmond were just up for anything tonight and they had fun, it showed.

Still seventh on the ladder though and if we can put it together in the last couple of weeks, who knows what can be achieved. I certainly like the prospect of the following:

Buckley
Didak
Pendlebury
Wakelin (imho should be played ahead of goldsack to have him ready for the finals)
Clarke

All coming back in, I think if we regain some composure we are not out of the hunt yet....just my opinion.

This team don't look real bad.

Wakelin Prestigiacomo Clement

Heater Harry O Clarke

Swan Lockyer Johnson

Maxwell Cloke Didak

Buckley Rocca L. Davis

F: Fraser Thomas Pendlebury

Int: Burns R.Shaw Bryan Holland or Medhurst

Prob left out a few, as ya do, but on paper that is a pretty hard side to match up on so all hope is not lost guys....Chin up!!

I would like to see us kicking straighter for goals though, poor kicking has cost us a couple this year.

Cheers
