Perspective.

That's all I really want to say.

BTW. I had a GREAT time at the ANZAC Day game. Thanx for asking.

Lately, I have had a close look at a number of teams in a number of games and I will stand in the face of anyone and declare that our guys are by no means worst in the League.

We are on the bottom at the moment because we lost a few close ones when a bunch of top class players were unavailable.

But hey! The other teams make clangers. Make mistakes and stuff up.

They have numpties and they have champs.

We have some bloody good players. (Go Rhyce!)

We have some class players and our time will come.

Go Pies!

Nearly every stupid mistake we make costs us a goal. Either directly or in a possession or two. Extremely frustrating to watch.

Just finished watching game and hence have not seen previous comments. My thoughts;

The positives

The kids are getting better, TC played a good first half and tired, CC tries hard but needs to be fiiter. JC played well on Hamill.

Yakka - happy with that.

Shaw continues to improve and was seemingly let down by options up field on a couple of occassions - should have kicked that goal though.

Rowe and Maxwell good....... but they could both improve their field kicking a lot. Rowe on at least 3-4 occasions kicked to the wrong side of a contest, he must also kick those goals.

Fraser - good return and just ran out of legs.

Johnson - great first half - what happened in 2nd half. He was great and at least was giving us drive. Did he get dragged or was he injured?

Morro - lots of touches - largely ineffective though. Still one of his better games.

Negatives

Most disappointingly - I cannot remember a Collingwood capt shitting themself. Not a great example to the other blokes. Harsh I know - but tell me the last time you saw a capt shit himself.

We looked a litte slow or soft. I mean I could not believe how many tackles we dropped off.

Our defensive coach - not once in the second half did we kick out with any penetration. Decision making and set up looked odd. Interested in comments of those at the game on this.

Why did we go in one big bloke short. Fraser was clearly underdone and once Presti went off their big blokes took over. What compunded it was that they took over in the midfield and gave Dal Santo and Ball first use. Was a big error MM. O'Bree should not have got the nod and Walker should probably have been retained.

Obree is S^&t and if he keeps his spot I will burn my membership for the year. One error was all it took - he had the choice in the third qtr to use his left or right - he chose his left and missed the target. I mean, is this guy an idiot! He is playing for his career and what he did looked v lazy.

Cloke on Gehrig - please - this kid gets scarificed on blokes like him. Rather than blame Cloke - blame the selection panel for being a tall short.

The umpires - gave them something like 5 goals from frees in the first 3 qtrs - incl 2 0f the first 3.

Midfield was terrible. Read Holland, Burns, Obree, Lockyer and Lica. Lica and Burns had bad games in the sense that when the game was in the balance they did not impose themselves. Burns got some kicks late which will make him look better. Very worrying that our clearance rate was down. No better evidence of what MM thought when he had Morro and Yakka in the square to start the last.

Cole - decision making terrible. I was a big fan but his season is on the line.

bad misses by guys like Cara, Shaw and Rowe when we needed them

Overall

Disappointing - felt we were right in it til the end when we ran out of legs which is understandable. What makes it frustrating is the mistakes that are made by the same players time and again.

Changes for me

Out - Presti (inj), Obree
In - Walker, Richards

What's going on here?? 8 pages and this is maybe only the 2nd sledge of the yellow-maggots?! Dissapointed!!

Cannot believe that decision against Presti for deliberate out of bounds, giving the mutant freak whizzer Gehrig a gimme goal.
Nor could I believe the one paid against Cole for a perfect spoil on dog Guerra's marking attempt. Another charity goal.
God only knows why Fraser had a free paid against him in goal square 3rd quarter, as it swung game back to Saints favour resulting in a 2 goal turnaround.
That we were dragged off the ball before we had taken possession of it on many occassions. As usual, jack-shit free kicks.
That's something for Humphrey-Bear and imbecile Geischen need to look at badly, but will turn a blind eye to.

Anyhoo, thought overall endeavour was good. 2004 type disposal still lingers. Saints attacked the ball in numbers, as we seem to do it single file. Defence is holding up well, considering the number of times the ball sails back over their heads.

MM has obviously told Chad to play that wide of DelSanto, as it went on for the entire game. Perhaps MM thinks DelSanto holds onto the ball for longer than he needs to, rather than moving it on quickly?
But he'd know - as he chose to draft Richard Cole instead of DelSanto in 2001 draft.

Hard to believe that MANY of these St.Blunda players are from the same team we kept to 3 goals in early 2002!!

Hope McGough is enjoying his reign as Scorpian King!

Just got home from work. Dissappointing ,again, and I actually gave us a chance. Oh well,as long as the general concencus is that our up and comers are improving. Stick with them, give em game time. I still reckon even with our injuries etc,we're still a much better team than at least half dozen sides at the moment. We can only improve.
Enjoy yourself. Its later than you think!

Apparently concussion and sat out the second half.

Captain didn't shit himself, he was also injured but there was nobody to replace him, so he played on.

can't argue with that

Cloke on Gehrig - please - this kid gets scarificed on blokes like him. Rather than blame Cloke - blame the selection panel for being a tall short.

MM said, there was nobody left to put on Gehrig and that's why he couldn't take Cloke off him in the last quarter, everyone else was injured.

Lica is still unwell. Not unfit, just unwell.

Cole - decision making terrible. I was a big fan but his season is on the line.

needs to be dropped

i hope that we don't have to have Presti out. Hope it's nothing too serious and that he's back next week.

don't forget, Leon should also be back next week

So do we pick Leon and Woey because they're native W.A. boys and MIGHT play well next week?
And who would you omit for Leon? O'Bree seems to be trying the Board's patience again...

Harsh on Tex there guys. Still learning the game, and has looked good as a leading forward. He is not a ruckman, and I can't see him as a defender. Does very well as a leading forward. Recently signed to a 2 year deal.

Tex is our new Kinnear.

It was a great game; I don't know why everyone is annoyed. I expected us to get done by 10 goals. You take away 3 umpire decisions that cost us 3 goals and it was close. We are not good enough but had a go. Mistakes under pressure and turnovers are what cost us the game.

You cannot in all honesty say you thought we were going to win.

Now is the time that the board should be working with MM for the remainder of the year - to work out who to keep and who to get rid of.

Part of this process is a complete evaluation of your current playing list and then where the deficiencies are - both on and off the field.

Off field we need a skills coach and a real strength and conditioning coach ASAP.

On field we need to have a real FF - Taz cannot cut it so we we need to look at who we have on the current list and we must try C2, Davo and Rusling.

We need a mobile CHB type to play along with Jimmy.

Midfield we need Magic, Egan, Yakka and Dids (when fit) to be tried and played there.

Lonie and C3 should be our wingers and quarterbacks to distribute the ball to the forwards.

Taz needs to be played at HF as he has a criminal conversion rate.

Pies need to evaluate, formulate a plan and execute the plan.

Strart with the off field and hire the right people as you are evaulating the on field staff for the remainder of 2005.

Well fortunately or unfortunately (depends on which way you want to look at it) I missed the game yesterday due to food poisoning. I did not even listen to it, that's how crook I was.

From what I gather, the younger fellas (Yakka, Rowe, Maxi, C3 etc) played reasonably well but it seems that some of the older blokes (Lockyer and O'bree) are the ones that need to pull their fingers out and are probably next in the firing line!
I think we should give some slack to Fraser as it is his first game back for a while!
Its amazing what a difference Presti makes and yet it is becoming a real struggle to keep him on the park for more than 3/4 of a season!
