I remember when Tony Greig was going on about his great lunch - it didn't sound too good though. He mentioned that the main course was stew! I thought at the time, what a strange dish to serve at a fancy luncheon.

Personally i think its rehearsed to stimulate conversation.

If you notice when Simon O'Donnell was on ch 9 he asked a lot of questions that i think he would already know the answer to. However by doing this he lets Benaud express his opnions and generally Richie comes off looking smarter

I was watching the South African tours b4 WC, and some nights the comm. I thought where at an old ladies tea party or something. 'Oh they didn't play like that in my days.' one would say, then the other would say 'yes in my day blah blah' was like listening to your grandmother tell you about how it was as she was growing up. It was rather funny.

Not sure who, maybe Mike Haysman, said after a searing Tendulkar drive to the straight boundary, "I thought I saw a touch of reverse swing there from from Akhtar but the ball came back past him quicker than he sent it down!"

Gilchrist gets hit by the ball.

Richie Benuad "Well he's caused Gilchrist a problem there"

Replay comes on the screen showing Gilchrist got hit in the nuts.

Richie "or maybe two problems"

Never said it wasn't a compliment Paulie, I actually said it was, but I just loved the statement.!

Tubby, Tubby, Tubby ! How the hell did Taylor get a gig as commentator ?

Richie, please remind him it's teleVISION. We don't need to be told EVERYTHING !!

Apart from his terrible grammar - "Another fieldsman is being BOUGHT into the slips" and his insistence on adding a K to words like 'anything' and 'everthing' - his constant upward inflections make it a necessity for me to hit the mute button and turn to ABC radio.
