Cairns and McCullum fined for nightclub incident
Lynn McConnell - 27 February 2003
New Zealand cricketers Chris Cairns and Brendon McCullum have been fined $500 each for their misconduct in a Durban nightclub last week.
New Zealand Cricket chief executive Martin Snedden reviewed the circumstances surrounding the incident, in which the players were asked to leave a Durban nightclub and where Cairns was later hit a blow to the head, after receipt of a report from the team management and comments of the players.
Snedden said the player behaviour was unacceptable and the players have apologised for their actions. Team manager Jeff Crowe has been told to tighten up some of the deficiencies exposed in the team's protocol on behaviour.
The 11 players who were at the nightclub (Andre Adams, Chris Cairns, Stephen Fleming, Craig McMillan, Brendon McCullum, Kyle Mills, Jacob Oram, Scott Styris, Daryl Tuffey, Daniel Vettori and Lou Vincent) have been reprimanded and the players as a whole have been reminded of their responsibilities to act professionally off the field.

From JLC - You put it in the wrong topic, m8.
I sincerely hope Australia wins the World Cup Otherwise its party time for me....
The media in Australia is acting like the aussies have won it already. However we know just like in aussie rules that finals and knock out stages of events often produce surprise results
Its not arrogance if you can back it up
Fate is what you are given, Destiny is what you do with it
Essendon 2000 premiers
2001 runners up
2002 fifth
2003 ????

What a wonderful game this is, this cricket! Holland gave the Windies a bit of a fright but, atm, are giving South Africa a big fright!
SA are 3/31 after 9 overs with Gibbs, Kirsten and Kallis all out. Patel has 2/14 from 4 overs.

Good knock by Hayden that got better as the innings went on. Hayden i think will excel when it comes to the Super 6 stage.
Bevan played a slowish knock but its first game back. However my feeling is that he is not playing his natural game. He is at his best when he plays a free flowing game. I dont think he has played this type of game for a while now.

Great knock from Lehmann. Only saw the last two balls of the over but i guess that was the over worth seeing.
I guess the bowling attack isnt that good but hey i guess at least he made runs
so well done

Last over. Seeing you missed it, 4 4 4 6 4 6 from their best bowler. You know the one, m8. He got 5 wickets against the Poms. van Vuuren went for 92 runs from his 10.
Darren Lehmann 50 from 31 balls.

I said it was a good knock. It was strokeplay at its best.
My query over lehmann has been scoring runs against quality attack.
Martyn and Bevan did nothing to change my minds about them. Everyone knows the golden rule is that if you run a player out its imperative that you stay at the crease and at least make a big innings.....lol you dont go out straight away. Not that he did it on purpose but still..
