Greg Blewett takes over from Darren Lehmann as the 'unlucky not to be in the Test team' player. Although on figures, he's had his chances.

He scored a century on debut against England in Tests and hit another one in his second. He scored 214 against South Africa and has four centuries and 15 fifties in his 46 Tests.

His overall Test average of 34.02 probably works against him when he comes up for reconsideration. In first class cricket, he averages a healthy 46.76 with 42 hundreds.

He's a very handy one-day player but has been given a chance and, once again, comes up short. In 32 ODIs he's only averaged 20.04 with a 62 strike rate and goes for 5.17 r.p.o. as a bowler.

Well how could you justify Blewett being in the team.

He couldnt be picked ahead of Langer and Hayden ??

He cant play at first drop ?? Ponting has done a great job there

So you would say middle order but i think you have to be a good player of spin bowling to bat in middle order.

Blewetts main flaw is spin bowling. Mushtaq Ahmed made Bleweet look rather silly against spin bowling.

Blewetts time in the test arena has past and players like Michael Clarke have over taken him.

South Oz are 7/283 at stumps against Queensland.

M Cosgrove made 52 with 8 fours and two sixes. Greg Blewett scored 49 and David Fitzgerald, 40. Mark Miller is 48 n.o.

Ashley Noffke has 3/63 from 19 overs.

Anyone know Cosgrove's name?

Shane Harwood did the early damage against NSW. Michael Slater and Simon Katich both went to catches by the 'keeper, Roach, for ducks!

A fightback is on though, with Greg Mail on 33 and Stave Waugh, 36. 2/70.

Both went on to score centuries before Noffke (6/100 from 33.3 overs) finished the innings on 464.

A great effort by Michael Miller, an all-rounder who averaged 17 in his previous 9 games for SA. He scored 112. Brad Young, also an all-rounder, hit 115. They had a 222 run partnership.

Well, the 222 run 7th. wicket partnership by Miller and Young takes on a different perspective!

I mentioned the wicket must have flattened out. I was selling their effort short, very short it seems as the Redbacks have just skittled the Pura Cup front runners for 118!!

Only Martin Love (33) and Ashley Noffke (27) scored above 20. Mark Cleary, after debuting with 5/100 for the match in SA's last game, he took 4/23 and with Greg Blewett, ripped through the middle and lower order.

Shaun Tait (3/27), in only his 3rd. game for his state, had the Bulls in big trouble at 3/25 but Love was leading a bit of a fightback at 3/65 when Blewett and Cleary relieved the opening bowlers.

The Bulls then lost 7/53! Blewett took 3/32. Graham Manou held 5 catches behind the stumps.

With a lead of 346, SA enforced the follow on.
