LoL Donny I love your call about JLC picking Steve Waugh that is an absolute scream! By the way how dare you JLC state that Donny has no opinions of his own, he does have opinions and they are a lot better than yours at least he is not critical of everyone! I am very upset over this Shane Warne issue and was very very shocked when I first heard about it! Let's hope that everything gets resolved soon!

Well name some of his opinions ??

Just for the record a few of the commentators on 3aw thought Steve Waugh would be a good selection. 3 centuries in the last month or so.

JLC you always try and justify your comments with what some commentator or journalist said don't you, sounds like you're the one who isn't confident with your own opinions! As for Donny's opinions I don't have to sit here and type them for you if you can't read for yourself that's not my problem!

Well generally when you state an opinion or a fact you have a reason for those opinions or something to back it up with. My point was that im not the only one who thinks Steve Waugh was very unlucky to miss out and it wouldnt be unrealistic to say that he would be a worthy replacement.

Well if you read this topic Donny merely made an assumption as to what i would say and didnt name his replacement.

Definately. Last night they had a good feature on Fox Sports about Watson. Im sure being a fan of his you would have watched it??

He spoke about how he struggled to get a game in the QLD second eleven and decided to move to Tasmania to get a game. That explains why the selectors like him so much as he has traces of QLD blood in him Image He went on to say how his ambition is to play Test Cricket etc. He actually seems like a nice guy although needs time to adjust to the big time maybe?

The fact is Australia are DESPERATE for an all rounder and chose Watson as their man. His only half decent performance with the bat has been against Kenya where he scored 77 not out. From what i have seen of Watson he doesnt seem to be a big hitter like a klusener or Cairns. Maybe he will be better suited in test match arena only time will tell.

I know everyone on here is pro australian and people who dare criticse are player are portrayed as villains. The fact is Watson hasnt done anything exceptional as a cricketer yet. In terms of all rounders Kallis, Pollock, Klusener, Cairns,McMillan, Tendulkar, Andy Flower, Gilchrist, Hooper, Akram, are all ahead of Watson.

For Watson to take the next step he has to become "proficient" at either batting or bowling. Symonds and Harvey may well climb above Watson in the order in terms of all rounders. By the end of the tournament Hogg may also be ahead of Watson.

Thats the way i see it anyway

actually i didnt watch it bcos i dont have foxtel.

anyway, what i think is that he looks to have the goods, he just has to be consistent Image he looks like hes gonna be alright to me.

remember to get experience u have to start somewhere and hes only young and just starting to get into the big time.

we have to give him a chance!

and our current side isnt gonna last forever so we might as well start giving him a go now eh!

anyway thats my opinion on the situation Image

Yeah thats cool its interesting reading different opinions. Time will be the judge of Watson. However a back injury is a big set back that he has to overcome.
