OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!

I have never ever ever baracked against Collingwood before! What am I to do if Paul Collingwood plays for England? How can I seriously barrack for the Aussies if someone with such a name is playing against us! If this guy is playing in a Melbourne league he should be playing for us to end my dilemma.

as much as i dislike him, vaughan aint no hack PP'03. about 1200 runs this year already with probably 4 innings to bat - fantastic form. last year was also productive for him and he's had an average of over 50 for the past 2 years.

You're a bloody hard man to please, JLC!

What's your problem with Damien Martyn?

Since he's come back into the Test team, he's averaged 57, hit 5 centuries and 9 fifties in 23 Tests!

I suppose you want to drop Haydos now because he didn't even score 50 in the last Test. And you'd probably want to piss Alfie off too. After all, he struggles to just get century opening partnerships recently. Lol.

In my opinion its the quality of the opposition that places addded value on the runs you score. Haydens 100's in boiling temperatures in the sub continent against a quality spin bowling attack is of a higher quality than a high score at a batter friendly Adelaide Oval against a second string attack.

Personally i dont think Lehmann cuts it at test level and i stand by that. I am still not convinced on Damien Martyn. I would hardly say he is the ninth best batsman in the world. Even at one day level i dont think Martyn is an automatic selection.

I totally agree with JLC wrote in his last post!!!

If I was in Lehmans shoes about now i would wanna be making runs in the test comming up otherwise he could see him dropped from the 4th test!!

still think vaughan is a hack.....hes the best of a bad bunch...but I would not consider him in the top 5 batsman in the world...

Lehmann is a gun he will destroy the poms in the next test....beware the barge arse on the rebound!

232 all out with 45 mins left in the last session. Hussain gets 95, Collingwood gets 40 and extras is next top score with 19.

Hard at it. The Collingwood way.

JLC, I enjoy reading your cricket posts and not only because they present a challenge. Lol.

Hayden had a truly magnificent series in India and reaped the rewards for diligent homework on spin bowling before he went but his recent efforts against a depleted and third rate England attack - you said second rate but it really only rates as second rate if it included a fit Gough, Jones and, perhaps, Giles and Flintoff - have been iffy considering he was dropped 6 times in his 300 runs at the Gabba. And on 'a batter friendly Adelaide Oval', as you put it, he was dropped twice and only scored 46. Before you jump on that, may I say a hearty "good luck!" to him and I love the style of his batting.

Whilst on the subject of bowling attacks, Pakistan's Younis, Akhtar and Saqlain are all rated in the top 10 but we convincingly beat them AND away from home. They had won 8 out of their last 10 Tests and were rated as the next best team after Sth. Africa.

Before Australia played S.A. last year, they were rated a close second to us and included such talent as Donald and Pollock, then considered the best opening bowling pair and both in the top 5, and the world's best three all rounders at the time in Kluesner, Kallis and Pollock. They were walloped out here and after the return 3 Tests in S.A. had lost 1/5.

I repeat, we can only play the other teams in this era.

Martyn IS an automatic selection at No.4 in the Test team and his 95 in Adelaide showed just why the selectors rate him as such. He provided superb support for Ponting as a good No.4 should do with an ideal stroke playing first drop like Ponting has become.

The ratings list can be a bit baffling at times, I agree, but can you please name the batsmen you think should be ahead of Martyn ?

I look forward to hearing your thoughts, mate.

ps. I had to divide the last 3 posts because it wasn't being accepted as one.

You must remember Paikstan fielded a "b" grade team as the investigators were snooping around re the bribery and match fixing allegations. Akram and Co go into hiding then re emerge when the coast is clear. Just like a Phoenix company they rise from the ashes......lol lol

I have no doubt Australia is the best team in the world at present due to their positive Cricket and the best bowling attack in the world. Although it could be stronger if they get a quality third pace bowler to support dizzy and mcgrath. The batting i think is vulnerable at times and can be strengthned.

There are many batsmen who can replace Martyn at one day level. These names will be supplied in my next post Image However for the World Cup in Sth Africa i would place emphasis on choosing all rounders.

Funny...I just noticed you have a dog in your pic Image...whats his name?

PS Martyn has earned his spot big time and is putting the runs on the board....no replacement required ...yet

the beauty about the OZ team is the depth....the aussie "a" side would compete if not beat most other sides around the world~
