Spoke with Paul today, expecting the fixture from AFL Victoria any day now. 19th was the official date set for it's release.

AFL Vic have just emailed me.

Fixture is in progress as we speak. Will not be ready until the end of next week, or perhaps early December.

I have requested Round 1: Collingwood v Williamstown at Victoria Park playing for the Ron Todd Cup.

It's usually round 3 of the AFL season, but I think the GF has been brought back to AFL PF weekend so it the season will probably be brought forward as well to round 2 of the AFL season.

Woo Hoo.How good would it be if the Pies played at the G saturday night. Watch the VFL side at Vic park then do a pub crawl to the G. :D

Nice work Shane.

If it's on the Saturday, it would most likely be on the weekend of round three vs St Kilda (whom we play on the Friday night). We play Melbourne on the Saturday afternoon on the Easter weekend, so it would be unlikely to be played - and screened - alongside the senior side's fixture.

Where would the ABC commentators be positioned for the match?

Therein lies AFL Victoria's problem. The fixture was easy, now they need to line up all the games with regard to the respective AFL dates and times. Not so easy.

I've just been thinking about it...

Last season with an odd number of teams, every team had 2 byes spread throughout the season. With an even number of teams the season can be cut back by 1 round as everyone can have just the one bye in a mid-season split round.

This means that even if the GF is brought forward by 1 week the season can still start in round 3 of the AFL.
