i went there, obviously didn't dig deep enough.

anyway, we all know collingwood as the magpies but once upon a time they were also known by another nickname. what was it and why?

hint: look around the suburb and you'll find the answer.

The Flaties? Due to the flat nature of Collingwood the suburb in the 1880/90's?

Yeah I am, nothing better than being the boss.

What player who missed the entire 1988 season due to a knee injury came off the bench in Round 1 1989 V Hawthorn at Waverley and kicked the sealer with his first kick back.

Hint: His nickname was 'Turk'

Correct, I walked home to Reservoir that day :x

Fitzroy 5.6 9.8 16.13 21.16 (142)
Collingwood 0.2 1.6 2.7 7.10 (52)
GOALS: Fitzroy: L.Harris 5, D.Strooper 4, P.Broderick 3, R.Osborne 2, C.McGrath 2, K.Thomas, S.Clayton, T.Board, R.Lyon, A.Lynch
Collingwood: G.Crosisca 3, M.Gayfer  , D.Barwick, M.McGuane, B.Taylor
Crowd: 13,961 at Optus Oval on Saturday, 9th July
What a day! Half the Collingwood team had the flu and it was freezing cold. Raymond35 also had the flu but stood behind the goals all day feeling like death. Since that day i've always said if there is a rumour that a bad cold or flu has hit a team you bet against them, because theres no way they can play properly.

I stood in the pocket (Collingwood end) If my memory serves me correct 4 pulled out with the flu and 6 played with the flu.

What a day, it doesnt get any worse :( We were sitting pretty in 2nd spot after the 'Starcevich' Carlton game the week before, Fitzroy were 3rd from bottom LOL.

Bloody hell.
