Leon, you are superstar.

Still wondering where Rocca, Johnson and Bryan fit into the team.
I absolutely agree that Leon is now a superstar. He was almost BOG except for Swanny's unbelievable case of leather poisoning which won it for him in the end.

But I disagree totally with you on the other three: I think Bryan showed he is one tough customer and made a real contribution today. Benny Johnson was terrific in and under and is still (despite what some think) clearly in our best 22. Rocca could have given us even more of an edge up forward today. Notice how Cloke drifted out of the game in quarters 2 and 3 (even though we were still killing them). With Anthony alongside, we can afford that and it eases the 4 quarter pressure on Cloke as the one big body up there (if you discount Josh Fraser- who doesn't play that big really).

What a great day. Pies flog Eagles by 100, Storm smash Bulldogs 46 - zip.

Picked all the winners so far. Party time in the Beanie house tonight.

love the whole match
I thought Bryan was great and really dived on the ball when brought to ground after a ball up providing great pressure :)
For a highlight , When Pendles took on the west coast backman , rode the bump , spun around and slotted the goal , Great play by our boy and shite effort by the eagles backman
You gotta also love McKinley truing to kick it off the ground and missing it

Great win by the boys today. It would have been easy for them to have a let down after last week's game, but they really knuckled down and played good footy all day.To finish off a team like that really is exciting to watch. Some people think we are just a team of plodders and battlers, but there really is a lot of talent there for us.As Malcolm Blight said,we have the best small forwards in the compeition.I can't think of a better combination than Davis,Didak.Medhurst and Thomas. Also, what a great turnout by the Pies fans today. To get 53,00 people against an interstate side,is an outstanding effort. :)

The signs are all very very positive. :D

When you think that Rocca must walk back into this side when fit we will be even stronger. Even though Cox did well and will benefit for the experience, Anthony is just too valuable and really helps Cloke.

The other positive is our kicking for goals this year. Hats off to Brian Taylor. I have been critical of his influence on our kickers in the past, but the facts don't lie. Our forwards are now kicking straight and kicking bags.

Another surprising positive: Heater had a quiet game, and Lockyer is struggling a bit at the moment, but that's fine if the other 18-20 boys lift. Marty, Dane, Rhys and Harry O are all back in town. And the usual suspects (our current and future superstars) all fired when necessary. I don't know what Mick said to the boys after the Hawthorn game, but we have turned it around in a huge way since that dark day.

I have never felt so positive about our chances for September for many a long year. Mainly because I can see where there is still a lot more improvement in most of our boys.

For me, no need for Rocca. Free up the salary cap and target an extra key defender. Premiership sides are built from the defence first.

Wow, just remarkable, 100 points, and didn't the crowd know it. It was our day from the 1st bounce. Strange but I'd agree with some here, I didn't think we played that flash. It was just a workmanlike effort that ground them down. There was the odd bit of brilliance like every game, but this side reminded me of a more gutsy team rather than skillful. Wonderful to see so many players not shirk a contest. I have no doubt that that is what will get us far into this season. If we can go 7-4 at the break, it will stand us in good stead at a crack at the 4. Keep it up Woods.
Go Pies!

Had to work today (working in the finance industry at this time of year can have it's drawbacks) so I didn't get to go. But, I was able to listen to it on the radio. That was a sensational win. I'm not quite sure how we managed to get from 40 points to 100 points so quickly.

Fantastic all round performance. This sort of team ethic needs to continue. That's the hard bit.

One of the things I liked about today was watching Pendles and Wellingham combining...there were a few occasions where they worked together around packs. All class.

The only WCE player that stood out to me was #17 Kennedy, did WCE get him in the Judd deal?

spoljar wrote:The fact that be backed up last weeks effort was the most pleasing thing for me. This weeks, we won without playing our best footy or having to play like men possessed. We won because we were a better side.

Consistecy is the real key to us making top 4 and we may have just found that.

Good call spoljar. The 100 pts bashing was a bonus, but to play consistence is where you need the club to be heading in.

I was honestly expecting DTM to react about my 'Rocca who?' comment, but it seems as though everyone has seen it for how it WASN'T meant.

Ant does have a role in the team, and he proved that last week, but under certain conditions, he is also a liability.

Not as electric as last week but to come out two weeks on the trot and bury sides by 86 and 100 points respectively is just bloody awesome !!!

Go you mighty Pies, smack those snow bunnies next week and then we'll get the shovels out for Carlscum !!!!!
