I watched the Eagles last week and although they won by 50 points, they weren't much chop. Adelaide squandered so many chances in front of goal to capitalise on some truly awful Eagles errors. If we are switched on we should dominate them quite comfortably.

If Kerr is out, we win by 50. If he's in, we win by 30.

Conditions will be fine this weekend.

Expect Swan to continue with his form, too.

Wouldn't mind seeing both Rocca and Cloke leading up the ground, leaving only Medhurst inside 30, with other players dropping back with the flight. Priddis will get a lot of it, wouldn't mind putting a tag on, but the high intensity is the key. If we can duplicate the intensity, we will win comfortably. However, that is no easy feat.

It looks like Waters and Lecras will be back. Two big ins for them. Benny Johnson to play on Lecras, with Heath Shaw playing in the midfield again. I haven't seen West Coast for a couple of weeks, who is playing Hunter's role? Will be interesting to see who goes to Cloke, but the fact that no immediate matchup comes to mind is a good sign, Cloke should dominate. Glass will take Rocca obviously, and he should play the same role as Friday.

Beau Waters is a good inclusion ... FOR US! He butchers the ball so badly we'll get 2-3 goals out of his kicking from defence.

The big difference last week was Lockyer being put in defence. I called for it last week in a separate thread (thanks for reading my post, Mick). His pressure and disposal from defence is too vital to be wasted in a forward pocket.

What about putting Rhyce Shaw on Priddis? FFS to think we almost put this guy as the sweetener in the Wood deal. Phew, becuase Shaw has recaptured the form prior to his knee. Love this guy.

Agreed. He's been fantastic this year. He seems to play well in a shut-down role early, but lets his opponent back into the game late (unless I've dreamt this?). Perhaps we should swap the tag at half-time, with Thomas? Thomas and Rhyce would both burn Priddis with their pace.

Thing about priddis is he is not over endowed with pace. But if you try and beat him with pace you will lose out. There are very few who can read the game like him and seems to find space even in the tightest clinches. I would personally put Wellingham on him as they play the similar in and under role. Stay at his shoulder and follow him wherever he goes and tackle hard.(And to think that I was laughed at by ppl on here when I suggested we pick him up... :? :D )

Weazels are much the same team as last year, just down on confidence. But a win can bring some of it back.

However, we do seem to match up on them.

All this may be summed up in one word - CHARACTER - and if that is not worth developing, nothing is.

Firstly to the OP...Mick & the boys would've been thinking about WCE at about 11pm on Friday night...They might have slept with glorious dreams of the night before..but their focus before cuddling a (silk) teddy would not have been on pussies in hoops.

Secondly...I think it's time for Dave86 to join the coaching staff...Brilliant analysis week in, week out.

Bollocks to that!

We smashed the Cats, I will be celebrating right up to 2:10pm Saturday arvo and then I will scream myself horse again.

A complete nobody like me thinking about the game and over ANALysing it will have absolutely no baring on its outcome.

So for me I will enjoy the win for a while longer and leave the rest to the blokes paid to do what they do.

Rhyce SHaw on Priddis is not a good matchup. Rhyce needs a quick outsider who he can exploit going the other way because they do not tag. Doesnt really have an obvious matchup with Kerr and Judd out of the team. Also dont think Wellingham is a good matchup either. Think we have to use O'Bree or Burns to play and just aim win the clearances instead of him.

Last week Ebert and Rosa won a lot of the ball. Could be an idea to use him on one of them and run off hard.

I doubt we will put any hard tags on. We havent all year. I think we will continue to put similar players on similar players and aim to beat the opponent in the contests and around the ground.

Priddis is important, as is Braun. They are 2 that may slip under guards.

Daniel Kerr is out another 2 rounds.

On Lockyer, although he has been a goal kicker of late, the backline is his spot. He looked right at home. I like him playing loose and just setting up the play, and his composure and tenacity is a bonus. Thats his position.

edit: Daniel Kerr is named as on 'test' on the latest injury list....he may play. If so, Wellingham is the guy for him. Only one with the pace and a bit of mongrel in him to do the job and tackle him hard.

Although beaten by ABlett, Wellingham's first quarter was important and he was on top of Ablett. He helped set up the win. He should do even better on Kerr.

Dave, what do you think of Rhyce going to Embley? He fits your description of an outsider who can be unaccountable and thus hurt going the other way.

Also, I finally caught a replay of the Geelong game and it seemed to me that Wellingham wasn't on Ablett so much after that first quarter. Probably would have been too much of an ask to expect a rookie to go with the best in the competition for four quarters.
