Job vacancy - VFL coach
The VFL this year has been a disgrace.
The players are not as responsible as the officials who made the decision to pick just two senior players (Crow, Carmody) and recycle one half-committed, skills-have-got-even-worse (as if that was possible) ex-player in Licuria.
On top of that they appoint a Malthouse mouthpiece with no external experience enabling him to gather non-Malthouse ideas with which to challenge Malthouse's failing game plan.
I don't like criticising Rowdy, especially at the moment he is inducted into the hall of fame, but "uhhhm", and "I don't know why", silence and "structure goes out the window" are not good enough.
Not to mention "I don't even care if we win the game".
I can't take this shit.
F*&king pathetic.

What, development of a losing culture?Jock McPie wrote:no. one word ... development.
Development of giving up when the going gets tough?
Development of tossing in the towel when more than six goals down at any given stage of a game?
What, exactly, is being developed? Certainly not skillful and competitive depth for the senior side.

Ah Jock you're sounding like that old fella on the Vicar of Dibley, "No no no no development." Do you mean? "No development." In which case we're failing badly. Or "No no development"? That is what the VFL side should be doing alright. But from what we have seen this year, Brad Gotch was a better development coach and Williamstwon a better development side than this current VFL side that is an embarrassment to the Collingwood colours.Jock McPie wrote:no. one word ... development.

Depends a bit on what Brown meant by he doesnt care if we lose.
Maybe he cares, but he doesnt explain himself more like it? He's there for Malthouse, developing the team according to the Malthouse style. Winning formula? Competitive spirit? Pride? I heard Brown, or maybe that should be when I didnt hear him at a recent VFL match. He spent the break checking his board for matchups. The players were getting rubdowns in silence. Brown only spoke when the siren sounded for the next quarter. Its much better to have all the players in our jumper, but wheres the depth and is it a winning style?

Here are some of his 3/4 time quotes to the players:RudeBoy wrote:Brown was correct in what he said. What he was saying was that regardless of the outcome, he wanted the team to show some guts and determination in the final quarter. Give the guy a break.
'It's about how proud you are, it's about how competitive you are.'
'I don't even care if we don't win the game. I care about who's gunna stand up, who's a competitor and who's gunna show something.'
After telling the players that it appears they have given up 'Show everyone at the ground that you care about your football, your football club and yourself, and whether you're gunna have a go.'
'Look, I don't care if we get beaten by 20 goals, as long as we're gunna be competitive and have a go.'
No ranting, no raised voice, just typical Rowdy. The players have only let themselves down.
