Ordinary backline, ordinary mid-field and a forward-line that is not functioning as it should...I'm sorry folks but that is not a formula that will win us a premiership.
Our 1990 premiership side had the best back-line in the business and our mid-field and forward structure were not bad either- compare them with our current side!!!
Don't give me that crap about us being a young side and being 2-3 years away from a premiership, every year someone on this site says that very same thing.
We have enormous ability within this current Collingwood side and I for one am fu*#ing sick of them under achieving.
If they are down in confidence then get them a sports Psychologist and/or some other type of therapist and fix the problem.
I bought myself a new big screen plasma tv recently as I really thought that this year was going to be something special and I thought that if I can't make the game in person at least I will be able to watch my beloved Magpies on a decent screen at home.
If I have to watch too much more of the sub-standard crap that I have witnessed over the past two weeks, MM and/or Eddie will be getting an account for a new television because the one that I currently have will have a fu#*ing hole in it.
Whatever the problem is, someone please fix it, if players are not performing in the manner that they should for this mighty football club then get rid of them, don't they realise what an honour it is to play for the greatest sporting club in Australia.
Names aside- whoever they are,if they are not giving 100% then get rid rid of them.
Go you pies for christ sake and make us proud.

100% agree with the above post!
It's very frustrating to watch them play atm, especially when we know full well how capable they are!
It's sad really....

I have read most of the posts that people have written over the past few days. Some are good, some I can't believe that Collingwood supporters have written.
My view on Saturday night is like most - in a winning position but couldn't finish it off.
My advice to all those people who are writing off the 'Pies is don't. A slow start to the season but I feel that we will slowly build up to be a good side.
Don't worry about big Anthony - he will bounce back as will the rest of the team.

We have the team, but the team is in a hole and need to work their way through it. I've seen it before lots of times, and it's back again. I reckon it's a confidence thing pure and simple, it's a mindset problem.
When the Pies are in this well known hole I speak of, the one thing that stands out which I hate is the amount of times the ball goes into our forward line, and then is repelled straight back out. The last two weeks have been perfect examples, and it has repeatedly happened when the Pies are in a hole. This is a coaching deficiency. If it happens early, try plan b, if that don't work, try plan c. FFS do something, don't let it continue for the entire match. I know people blame delivery (which doesn't help), but don't we have crumbers? Forward pressure anyone?
I was thinking today, that if we are playing way below our standard, imagine what we could achieve if we click and put it together. I mean, we play pretty average footy and just lose (North and Carlton).
How do we get out of the hole? Grind out a win and go from there?
ANZAC day match is a great test for our side at the moment. On paper, the Pies should do it comfortably. Big occasion, huge crowd, pressure to perform, should go in as favourites. A huge weight to bare, is the team up to it?
I hope so.

Just a thought for everyone worrying out there, here's a fairly honest round by round prediction for the rest of this year;
Round 6 vs Essendon = 8 point win
Round 7 vs Hawthorn = 40 point loss
Hall Of Fame weekend
Round 8 vs Stkilda = 22 point loss
Round 9 vs Geelong = 49 point loss
Round 10 vs West Coast = 7 point win
Round 11 vs Melbourne = 41 point win
Round 12 vs Carlton = 19 point win
Round 13 vs W. Buldogs = 3 point win (7 wins, 6 losses at break)
Mid Season Break
Round 14 vs Sydney = 26 point loss
Round 15 vs Adelaide = 24 point loss
Round 16 vs Kangaroos = 4 point win
Round 17 vs Essendon = 32 point win
Round 18 vs Hawthorn = 31 point loss
Round 19 vs Stkilda = 6 point win
Round 20 vs Port Adelaide = 14 point loss
Round 21 vs Sydney = 12 point win
Round 22 vs Fremantle = 22 point win
That gives us 12 wins, 10 losses, 7th or 8th spot.
Either way final vs Sydney (again)
If its in Melbourne we win, if in Sydney not so confident.
Not a bad season considering the loss of so many big names last year, lack of big name leadership and a platform for the youngsters for the future.
Our Future is beyond this year boys.
Big learning curve.

What we need is a massive rev up before we play the Bummers on Anzac Day.
Some people think that thats irrelevent in professional footbal but thats bullshit. Look at Richmond and St Kilda over the past 2 weeks. They have copped it in the press and both teams have admitted to taking notice of the slurs against them.
Obviously our coaching staff couldnt get us up against our biggest rivals and let them have their first win in eons. Then our own payers didnt have any self-determination on saturday night when the game was there to be won.
We have been molly-coddled by the press for the past year or so with our youth, but its time for some home-truths.Its sad to rely on external sources to get fired up but I hope we get it in spades this week.I really do
When was the last time you saw a angry Collingwood run out on the field breathing fire?

I just watched the Didak miss again on "On The Couch".... I just feel ill. I think it's because it was Dids who missed it. If it was anyone else I woudn't be that shocked, but I just can't believe it. The crowd was a millisecond from just erupting... you could just sense the electricity... then the ball curves and there is a mass simultaneous "hands on the head". Dids looked like he wanted to kill himself... which is great to see such passion for the jumper. And on TV it looked like it was going through even more than it did at the ground... so tens of thousands of Pie supporters across the country would've jumped in jubilation before coming crashing back down in despair.
We love ya though Dids. You're a bloody star.

Mate, that's exactly what I did - haven't felt that sick since the first GF loss to Brisbane.ktszyu1 wrote:And on TV it looked like it was going through even more than it did at the ground... so tens of thousands of Pie supporters across the country would've jumped in jubilation before coming crashing back down in despair.

That's what bothered me the most, too (and it was really highlighted by the fact that our small defenders got caned by their crumbers at the other end). Look at the amount of goals kicked by talls - apart from Josh, who bagged 4, it was clearly a small forwards' night. Our smalls played pretty well but they get a lot of their goals from marks. Our crumbing and defensive pressure inside the forward 50 was shocking, particularly late in the game. I can't work this out as Leon, Dids and Medders seem to have the defensive skills and seem to work out, so perhaps it is coaching or structure as you suggest.Didaksgoal wrote:When the Pies are in this well known hole I speak of, the one thing that stands out which I hate is the amount of times the ball goes into our forward line, and then is repelled straight back out. Me and my Brother listening on the radio screamed and jumped like it was the west coast final last year when the commentator said it was a goal. Shattered, angry and hostile after he said it was a point as you can imagine.ktszyu1 wrote:so tens of thousands of Pie supporters across the country would've jumped in jubilation before coming crashing back down in despair.

Dids tried all night with 26 kicks and 3 hanballs, maybe next match we have a team effort instead of a handful.
Collingwoods' classiest is Dids.
