People saying Reid needs to bulk up should take a closer look at him from last year to this one.

He's got considerably more muscle on his arms, but just his legs and frame that are still a bit skinny.

Also think about his age, he's still on 18 I believe, the reaction towards him has been rediculous, I say it again. Midfielders are a dime a dozen but a forward prospect like him is golden if it comes off and as yet there's no signs to me that he doesn't have what it takes football wise, just inexperience.

Patience!

He needs to get on the feed and we need to be patient.

IMO Egan, Cox and even Mccarthey could all be decent tall forward options.

I cannot believe how optimistic everyone on here seems to be.
Yes Meddler was good, Frase, Rhyce, Tarks Dids, Leon etc.
If North could kick straight, the game was over by half time.
As soon as I saw Holland picked in the team, I knew we were stuffed - no team can carry him AND OBree.
HarryO - what's the deal? THe bloke is so clumsy
Our backline was lazy and our decision making has been atrocious the last two weeks. We can't find a target, we don't man up and live in hope that things will work out in the end.
Meddler is taking marks for fun, yet Rocca and Cloke can't get near it - it can't ALWAYS be the delivery.

Oh it's so depressing..........

I watched the last part of the game when I got home...My conclusion was in two sections.
Bad umpiring turned the game. The crook bounce and also the 'soft' 50 meter penalty on Harry O'Brien...they were the turning point of the game
Our guys just couldnt maintain the pressure that they are known for and they must remember that the game goes for 100 mins not 80 mins.
If they dont get a good start next week,it will be curtains for the rest of the game, and we will be back to the situation of 'cant beat the teams listed above us'

That's a great point regarding delivery. Medhurst is taking marks everywhere, contested an all. He is getting the same delivery as Rocca and Cloke. Grrrr I dunno anymore.

IMO Cloke has reverted back to his old aimless mark on 60 and wheel around on his left kick long to a pack and lose on numbers.

Needs to cut that out.
He won't be going anywhere
I have it on good authority
It's a done deal

Medhurst is a very good mark in a one on one situation and punches above his weight in that department. He is one of those players who can convert a 50/50 marking contest into a positive. He is not contesting against two or three key defenders trying to mark helicopter kicks, hospital passes or worm burning passes two inches off the deck like Rocca and occasionally Cloke has to do. Cloke was well beaten by Furrito last night who is a classy mobile defender. I've thought Cloke's season so far has been okay mostly.

Playing in his position and the strong contested marking contests he is always in, Rocca absorbs more hard body contacts than anyone else in the team each week.

When he gets good delivery he serves us well mostly... last night he got one quality pass all night I thought....

the game could have gone either way big al kicks the goaL we win to many ifs and buts when you lose a close one.
-we were 21 points up and lost
- the north small forward misses three goals could have blown it away
-bad bounce north goal
- umpiring was bad seemed to favour north
-cloke and rocca no imput
-we miss clement down back he can play tight when we have to the others seem to be run off players
-the conditions would have suited burns like brisbane
-is rocca finished should we persist with him or bring in youth especially in night games that are wet/slippery conditions
- love it how other clubs are using us as a benchmark north treating it like a final what about geelong

Highlite:

*Reece Shaw's goal

Lowlite:

*lacking mongral (Scott Burns, we need you)

*Heath Shaw kicking across the face of goal (hello footscray!)

*umpires AGAIN!!!

Positives:

*A new coach in 2009?

Consistent tackling, man'ing up, close pressure, playing for your team mates is the winning formula that makes Gee-long succesful.

Are we becoming a team of champions?

how do you figure?

It was 16.16 to 15.15 - the same could be said about both sides.

I know we dont smash teams anymore, buts its a testament that we rarely get smashed ourselves.

I am optimistic still...I see no real reason why we cant turn it around and show the form that took us nearly all the way in 07

J. Brown will never play for Collingwood. he was asked a couple of seasons ago when we looked at him whether he would come to us and he said he hated Collingwood with a passion. He's a wanker. Don't want him.

Um... I was under the impression that we generally lift against good teams and the crappy teams drag us down to their level. That's been the story over the last couple of seasons. I'm still waiting for us to really put away a team like Essendon, Carlton or North. With the bs umpiring we got the other night, not likely to happen, though.

Like the Brisbane game we only lost this one in the last 15 minutes. Turnarounds of about 18 - 28 points in that time, what goes on in that 15 minutes? Do we tire that dramatically or do we get out coached?
