Very Disapointed, I hate those brions pricks. Was so upset for Burns who fought all night like a pier six slugger, Leon too was brillant and never gave in. Well done to Nathan Brown, " Cake Tin" Head had to rely on the 'scumpires' to give him free kicks , young Brown is on determined hombre . I also loved Goldsack's courage and Didak's brillance was there all night. I thought in the last quarter we had to be a little bit more attacking. O'Bree was great also and cleared it heaps for us. I wish Rocca had caved in Merrett's pathetic noggin.

Agree with Cam (re Johnno's turnovers).
I hope Hines only selects players in future with A-Grade footskills.
We will lose a granny on a turnover one day.
Whilst the umps were appalling, we seemed to sit back a bit in the last.
Would have liked to have seen Pebs in the ruck for 5 minutes just to liven things up in the last.
Im impressed that we have a ruckman (WOOD) who can take a contested overhead mark...
Must pummel the Tigers this week and Carlton the week after.
Changes for Round 3- IN: Clarke Out :Egan

I don't think we can blame the umps,... although it's hard not to!
Let's face it, the boys pulled the plug early in the last quarter & didn't have the GUTS to stand up & be counted when required! Second efforts were window dressing & it just seemed everyone was waiting for their team mate to take charge - DO IT YOURSELF!!!!!!
A game we really shouldn't have dropped from that position - VERY disapointing!

I'd also look at bringing in Marty, Iles or Stanley, but I reckon Tooves is extremely close to a promotion. His efforts on debut in the corresponding fixture last season are sure to aid his cause, but he certainly deserves it. He was excellent in the VFL on Saturday.
Egan I'd say is probably the man to drop (ouch, DreamTeam :P). Hoping Tys pulls up ok, too.

No idea mate! Watch it again. He does the lot - hard balls, clearances. tackles all the one-percenters. It was a great game, even by his standards.Kingswood wrote:why was i left with the impression that burns had a sub-par game?? Didnt realise his stats were so high.
i take it back. emotions are just running high.

I actually agree to an extent... YES the umpiring in the last qtr was poor.... but you know what, so were some of the efforts of the boys...
Cruising past opponents, not holding tackles, missing targets....
Up by 3 goals during the last qtr in the wet.... good teams hold onto those leads.

i still think the old 04-05 disease creeped in a bit - thought we'd won (well i sure did) and took our foot off the pedal.
some real highlights though, one of our best losses in a while (well since the PF)
- Leon with his Gary Ablett Senior upper body musculature
- Didak who is going to win us a granny
- the continued form of Swanny the Squib (sorry leonmagic)
- the return of the legendary, the honourable, the outstanding and upstanding Sir Scott Burns
- Goldsack who was inspirational till the accident. I'd say that this guy will never be dropped from the team. Hopefully a 15 year player.
- MM for his lovely game plan (well almost). I think our boys play the most attractive game of footy possible when they are on song (i'm like Mick, I like the kick)
- Shane 'the bushranger' O'Bree. What would we be without him? (several rungs lower on the ladder i'd suggest)
I tell you what i loved watching that Irishman Colm Begley. Awkward looking sometimes but fascinating to watch.
Umpiring was shit in the last, thought we were lucky a few times before that. Didn't really notice the maggots early.
Bri-hards should have been up a bit more early on with some terrible misses from set shots.
Good to hear so much crowd noise for the pies at an away game in Screamland.
Next time we will slaughter them, pay them back for that black day last year (thank god i didn't go to that game at the last minute).
