Very impressed with Dawes, strong pair of hands, good kick for goal, not slow and agressive.
Even though he did not get a lot of possesions he presented and took some strong grabs and considering a lot of players from willy kicked goals from a long way out and took full forward and half forwards out of the play he did well,,,,,

Played ok, but wasn't brilliant by any stretch, nor did he, as Dave says, place ANY pressure on Rocca. He'll get better with each week, though. Used his body nicely on occasions.

I think DTM means next year he might be putting Roc under the pump. He was just OK today. Wasn't brilliant by any means. But still looks like he may be the goods in the future. Fingers crossed.

Considering:

He had no real pre season because of injury. He's been getting his fitness over the last few months while the others are in maintenance and recovery mode.

He's a kid

He's now played 3 games at Willi reserves and 1 in Willi seniors and kicked goals in each game.

I'd say he's done pretty much what has been expected of him. Maybe even exceeded expectations at this stage. Fair way to go but the signs are positive.

I reckon on what he's showing to date, he's Pebbles successor. However, it would be great for the kid to get a few games next year in the black and white as third tall so he's ready to take the step up when Pebbles goes in another 2 years or so rather than expect him to suddenly dominate as a 19-20 year old.

Not forgetting the psychological aspect of his knee injury.

It could take up to another 12 months before he's fully over that.

Watched the game today, he was impressive without being dominate.
Looks like a very solid player for the future and can almost certainly lock him into a forward slot in the next 10 years.

Nope, still think it'll take another 12 months before he SERIOUSLY challenges Rocca.

The thing I most liked about him today was his steadiness when kicking for goal. He slotted a beautiful banana goal from the boundary and made it look easy. He's not just a big boy, he's a quality footballer. He's definitely going to be Rocca's replacement in a couple of years - if not before.

A quick assessment and got the job done.

Great goal.
