Great second quarter, umpires must have smoked the wrong cigarettes before the game, but we've still managed to get within 16 points. Still a close game but a very workable margin.
In reality, we've been on level terms, even possibly been the better team for the most part, with the exception of about 5-10 minutes late in the first quarter when Melbourne players were lining up to kick goals.
I think we can win it.
Some standout moments: Burns just being himself, Thomas rising to the occasion a number of times, doing some Thomas-like things... Stanley's desperate save in the goalsquare (he's got better and better as the game's gone on) and Fraser and Cloke also standing up at times. Goldsack playing his best game of his career. Oh, and thank God Heath Shaw is playing today. He's a gun.
Lowlights: Cloke's miss right in front. The moment he marked it, I told my mum, he's going to miss this. The problem is, I think he must be having similar thoughts at this stage cos Presti could have kicked that. Maybe he just needs some confidence. Also, O'Brien's injury, which had a lot to do with Melbourne's run of goals in the first quarter... we were simply too depleted back there. Fortunately, the second quarter was far better, they seem to be working better down there now.
Not one, but TWO deliberate out of bounds calls when the player in question was miles away from the boundary line. The second one by Maxwell was, admittedly, pretty obvious, but the one before that was mind-blowing.
Tip: us by 5.

McClaren is a complete 'F' wit....his interpretation of the 'in the back' rule is PATHETIC...if the 'D' dont win this game they can only blame themselves and the umpires....the umpiring has been SHITHOUSE.......

It's three quarter time, just a 3 point lead to the Dreamons.
Our players are confident, we're playing an exciting brand of footy... we're not home yet by any means but it's been a fantastic match.

The umpires are a disgrace!!!!!!!!!!
They have gifted the dees at least 5 goals !@#$%^&*(
The hands in the back rule is killing AFL. the rules suck. this game is becoming netball fast.

Most of my favourite bands start with "M" - Mars Volta, Mastodon, Megadeth, Metallica, Midnight Oil, Misfits...except King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard ~

actually, my 11 and 13 year old play rougher than this at netball, this is beyond a joke, rocca has nearly had his arm broken 3 times, no free, the afl must have intructed the umpires that melb MUST win. they are killing us,
first the salary cap crap, now this sh*t, dont they realize us long term supporters have just about had enough?? they want to gift a premiership to all the states, and now melb need help, this is truly crap!
