Petition: Bring back Dave the Man!
I hereby ask the undersigned to... Whatever.
I just think DtM is a valuable contributor to this board and given his unique situation should be given a bit of a chance.
Regarding his flaws, I think he has more chance to learn what is appropriate as part of this board, rather than excluded to a (more) heartless BigFooty forum.

Yeah, I'm always uncomfortable about excluding people because I have no doubt he is a good guy and he does have his inspired moments. No problem with the mods being tough on him because they are responsible for the Nicks community at large and Nicks is clearly the best board around because the mods get the balance right.
I'm not sure, but the mods may have some technical/legal beefs regarding his links or lack thereof, while he also imports a lot of trashy topics from other less esteemed boards that don't sit right with the quality of Nicks.
I still think we should back him though--god knows how much rubbish we've all written over the years, and as Sheriffe says his situation is unique.

There may be stuff going on here that we (non-mods) don't know about, so it's probably wise not to back-seat moderate without knowing the facts. But for what it's worth, from the posts I have seen, Dave is a good guy. Sure, His Capitalisation Drives me Spare Sometimes, but that's not a hanging offence. Hell, I've got an ignore button, I could use it if I wanted to. So has everyone else here. Dave is like HAL: one of the weird and strange posters that make Nics BBS feel like ... er ... like Nick's BBS.
But I repeat, you and I may well not know the full story and our mods are not fools: I trust them to make a sensible decision.

Nothing against the mods at all, but I don't agree with empowering anyone to make a decision on my behalf. I think we as a community should decide on a matter such as this.
IF he has done something blatantly in breach of copyright and has put the entire forum at risk then I think we have the right to know that to help us make a decision.

FWIW Dave has grown on me and I dont mind him so much now! Some of his stuff is very good and some very ordinary so it kind of balances its self out!
You could almost say there is a fair bit of Yin and Yang in Dave!

Dave said something he shouldn't have in one of the threads, and was carded. LD said it'll only be a couple of weeks.
On a side note:
On top of that, did you even think to check to see why he was banned before starting a thread like this?

They are the rules champ. Something you agreed to when you signed up. Bulletin boards wouldn't run properly without having appointed people making decisions for most.sherrife wrote:Nothing against the mods at all, but I don't agree with empowering anyone to make a decision on my behalf.
