Tess, you didn't have to mention the name. Nobody else mentioned anyone else they have on ignore and.......I don't understand, why click on the link to see what they've said if you have them on ignore..

doesn't make sense to me

Depends how it's used.

I have no one on Ignore at present but used the function in the past to block annoying cretins who would constantly fill threads with rubbish.

Those who I have ignored in the past have been susequently banned from the board (which is the ultimate ignore button) which shows at least it wasn't just me who thought they were a nuisance.

I don't use it to ignore people who's opinion I disagree with. There's something creepy about the idea of a board where everyone agrees with everyone else on everything. A bit of healthy debate makes it more fun.

For example member34258, you and I appear to disagree on politics, but our views on football sometimes align and sometimes don't. Similarly, I enjoy debating wih Sherriffe even though about the only thing we appear to have in common is Collingwood.

So in short, I think it's a useful tool and should stay. People who can't cope with an opinion different to their own have issues that an ignore button doesn't fix or exacerbate.
